I know most meshes are around 2000 or less polys, but this is mainly for active, animated characters. I was just able to import a car and texture it into FFVTTR (the blender settings were for FF, but it doesn't seem to work there).

Nif Viewer sets it at about 5000 polys and 12000 vertices. It will be setup as a vehicle in game.

Is this too much for the engine to handle - crashes, slowdown, etc ? Are the poly limits based more on cpu speed or the engine?

Tomato

It's mainly just cpu speed, which is advantageous since most computers can take much m :verfore than when ff first came out. In general though,my rule of thumb is to keep nif size under a mb... and it takes a lot to get it that high.
