I've got a Halloween thing going on at work this friday, so I went ahead and did a quick makeup test for my costume just to see what the hassles were going to be... all in all, I'm ok with it. Wish I had time and resources to work on stuff (I got a store bought costume, and it has this dumb fake muscle thing going on... which actually diminishes the costume.

Anyway, while I hope I'll get some better shots when I actually go, here's a quick shot I took with my camera. I'm going as the Greatest of the Green Lantern Corp.

Nice one Tomato, you really got the attitude down and (pinkish)red is definitely your color.

Here's a shot of this year's Riddler costume taken during DragonCon.  I forgot to put on the gloves for this shot unfortunately, but c'esy la vie.

Nice GG.   How long did it take to put that outfit together?

Thanks Jey.

The costume took a couple of weeks.  The hardest part was finding a suit that I could dye - the first suit I got had too much polyester in the weave and when I tried dying it, it was just a disaster.  I was about to give up when I went back to one of the thrift stores and found another one (along with the shoes).  I had hoped for a darker green on the suit, but I just couldn't get that out of the dye and time was running out, so I opted for the dark question marks (cut out of fabric and fabric glued on) and then just replaced the tan buttons with brass ones (since there were green buttons of that shade to be found).  The blouse and tie were just store bought, and the cane was a cheap cane from a costume store with a question mark head I made out of sculpty.  The wig was left over from an old costume and looked better than my own hair with this look, and the mask was from a craft store with some paint.

 Very nice, both of you.  If a job's worth doing (as they say), and you've each a fine job.

Green is in this season then I take it?

You both look great!  If I actually do anything Costume-y this year, I'll share a pic.

Had the costume thing today, here's a shot taken with my camera (hopefully I can get some others that were taken today next week.

Uncle Yuan

I will see if I can get a picture later (home alone this weekend).  But I have a party tonight that I *have* to get a costume for.  After some thought I came up with a decent genie costume.   Aunt Yuan is from India and we have a lot of interesting textile around.  I have a gold embroidered purple silk kurta (the calf length "shirts" men wear).  I swiped a gold/red/orange silk chundi of my wife's (the long scarves they wear with the traditional salwar-kameez) that I am pressing into service as a shash belt.  Black color for my reddish blond goatee, blue stage make-up for my face, shaved head and misc exposed bits.  I will have a proper (plastic) genie lamp tied to my belt and be carrying a bottle of tonic water.

I will be a Djinn and Tonic.

And the science gets done, and you make a neat gun

I've been Rocky from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

For your safety, I will not show images.

Zombie cowboy may be happening, though.

Happy Halloween to everyone.

Halloween is my favourite holiday. I don't even really care about any others. I love seeing people in costumes, and getting into costume. Too bad it is only one time a year...
To make up for it sometimes I wear a few costumes.

So I wore this to work.

But this was my real costume.
