I am back though, and will be repurchasing the games via Steam.  I know there's a bit of work to get FFEdit to work on those versions, and I'll look at the threads when I am ready to do that.  Just wondering though, is it pretty easy to get things to work as attended.  it's probably been a good 6 or 7 years since I played the games, so I am basically at square one as far as installing of mods skins and meshes.

I installed the steam version of FFvT3R and I think I was able to get the skins and meshes to work pretty easily, just by putting things in the right folder. I am pretty sure people have gotten FFEdit to work with the steam versions as well, and I did, too, though I rarely open the steam version because of the phone home process is too annoying.

Thanks for the reply Stumpy.  I have yet to get FFEdit to install with Freedom Force. I am familiar enough with editing the registry so I cant figure out what I am doing wrong.   I haven't tried with the sequel yet.

Once I installed the original and downloweded a few meshes and skins it all started coming back to me.  My biggest concerns at this point is that there are a lot fewer skins/meshes than I remembered.  Guess people are losing interest in the game, perhaps?  It also looks like there was more interference by Marvel and DC as well.  I played FF back in the day when the two companies filed the lawsuit instigated by the whole CoH affair.  Also, as I said I have messed around with my registry and put everything that I know to put in.  Still can't seem to get it to fly though.  :banghead:

If I can't get the editor to work with the original, is FFvtTR more forgiving?

Mostly what I am interested in is having all my favorite characters as well as the FX for their powers.

Thanks for aany and all help that anyone can give.

Actually, I am pretty sure there are way more skins and meshes available now (even with some of the sites dropping off) than there were in '05, if that's when you last played. Google is your friend. :) There is a certain bifurcation in that FFvT3R uses a newer NIF format, though I am pretty sure all but a handful of FF meshes can be converted to FFvT3R with nifconvert.exe and with SouperIan or Lightning Man's converting utilities.

There are lots of people who keep their meshes on Yahoo! groups and you might want to check out the skinners and meshers who have their stuff on freedomforceforever.com, Hero Force, Alex's Freedom Fortress, etc. Looking here on FR in the skin and mesh boards and you will see people's sites in their signatures and so on.

I haven't updated it in a while, so there are some sites that are missing (most noticeably, heroforce), and some that have closed, but it should help you in locating yahoo groups.

Stumpy, Goggles tyvm for the information and link.  Some of those sites I found snooping, others were welcome editions.  Looking at the different sites, there does seem to be a lot more out there than what I initially thought.  Things may be a bit more spread out. I dunno maybe it's just me?  Two skins that I remember having before that I can't seem to find are a She Hulk in her FF costume and a Wonder Girl from her early Teen Titans appearances in the 60s.  That leads me to my next question.  Do we have a place to go and ask "Where can I FInd. . . .?"  Or do people just post that kind of thing in the requests?
