After getting around the editor problem where it would not install due to not recognizing the Steam version of Freedom Force, I rammed straight into my next problem. The missing standard_e.dll and sound_e.dll error. Once upon a time this forum had the solution to my problem but due to Megaupload being axed I can no longer obtain the files I need to get the editor up and running. I'd really appreciate any help you can afford me. Also I'd like to say hello and hopefully contribute to the modding scene when I can get everything set up. Thanks in advance.

I thought that standard_e.dll was installed when FF's FFEdit was installed (the installer called Freedom Force Editor.exe). (I don't recall the issue with sound_e.dll, but it may suffer the same problems on installation.) If you ever got the installer to run, the DLL should be in your Freedom Force base game folder.

If the installer ran, but somehow that DLL didn't end up where it should, you might try a Windows search for it to see if it just went to the wrong place (keep an eye out for a "Compatibility files" button in the folder where they're supposed to be).

Failing that, you might try to extract the file from the installer, although my recollection was the files are buried inside an InstallShield (not Microsoft) CAB file inside the Freedom Force Editor.exe installer. If you aren't sure how to get to that, the process process of using the InstallShield CAB File Viewer for the first time is (roughly, I may be missing a step somewhere) open the FFEdit installer using something like 7zip and dig down to the Disk1 subfolder. Drag that folder to your desktop for temporary use. It will have a bunch of CAB, HDR, and other setup files in it. I am pretty sure 7zip (which is great, but...) can't open Installshield CAB files, so grab the Installshield Cabinet File Viewer and unzip it to install it. (That link is RapidShare. You can Google for others if it's not working.) Then open the CAB viewer (ISCabVu.exe) and open the FFEdit CAB files (click the HDR file in your temp Disk1 folder). When it opens, click the "Display Components" button and click "Files" in the tree. The missing DLLs (and the rest of the installation files) should be in the list on the right. You can double-click them to save them to your FF base game folder.

If missing those files (or any others from the FFEdit installer) was the problem, that should get you past it. I hope that helps.
