Hero creation without FFX

Unfortunately for me my linux/wine setup to run  :ff: does not allow me to run FFX.
I'm forced now to create characters with only the original  :ff: attributes, which means no invulnerable attributes. This is more annoying for me than anyone else, since I'm responsible for the invulnerable, toughguy 2 and body aura attributes that are in FFX.
So, having lost all pre FFX hero files, I'm trying to recall how we used to deal with invulnerable characters in the game. Does anyone here still create hero files the old way? If so, what's your system?

Hey Shazam, I don't really use FFX anymore when creating Hero Files, but that's only because I lost all the ones I had after my last Crash and didn't have the time or patience to rebuild. The majority of my Hero Files now are mainly put together to test my FX. But if it will help you out, I've got quite a collection of Hero Files built up from other Creators, so there should be some from  :ff:  and some from   :ffvstr:  . There are more than likely duplicates of some of these Files because I pulled them off my back up disks, and I'm not sure what exactly is what, but with luck, maybe you'll find something here that will help you out. These are all older Hero Files, so you may notice that newer Creators aren't in there, that's only because I'm trying to keep the older Files separate from the newer ones.

Also, I'll leave this Link up in case anyone else wants to check out these Hero Files as well.

If memory serves me, I used to use a combination of Material, resistance Attributes, and then polished off with Passive Defenses to cover the gaps.  There may also be a way to work at this within FFEdit or perhaps elsewhere in the game itself.  I recall Kenn detailing a way to crank up the top level of Strength for the game (but of course don't remember anything else about it).

I was always more of a fan of having highly reduced damage compared to having every attack show up as "Blocked" or "Deflected".  While in some cases it was fine (Juggernaut), in other cases, it just got too monotonous for me.

Typically, I made my higher-tier "bricks" (Superman, Hulk, Doomsday, etc.) Concrete (using MrBrdo's Tool or Alex's EZHero Tool in more recent years), Solid Skeleton, Strange Visitor, and an Always Active Occasional PD against everything save for Mental and Mystical attacks.

Other tough characters (Thing, Colossus, Wonder Man) I made out of Stone or Metal.  Metal was really nice in :ff: because it didn't have that annoying weakness to Energy and a really nice resistance to Crushing. Stone was also nice to use with its added resistance to Cold and Electrical (compared to :ffvstr:) and no weakness to Mystical. I would also give them an AA Occasional PD, but it was more so for Piercing, Crushing, Heat, and Cold.

What I also did was something along the lines of Taskmaster's formula for Invulnerability, with some minor adjustments:

The way he has it, if the character has Good-Amazing resistance to an attack in Marvel RPG, they would be resistant to that attack type.  If they had a resistance of Monstrous or above, they would be highly resistant to that attack type.  It would be difficult to get certain characters to be highly resistant to all attacks as well as adding attributes such as flying or danger sense, so I would just focus on giving them Concrete + Solid Skeleton + Strange Visitor + Temp. Control (maybe) and a PD for Physical and Heat attacks. This would make conventional means of damage (Crushing and Piercing) much less effective against them while the more "exotic" moves would be slightly more damaging, but also not completely effective.  This would make my tanky characters pretty durable, but also not impossible to take down.

I could detail it here; however, it would be a little rude here since it worked expressly as a function I added to FFX.
