I'm new around here and recently stumbled upon the Freedom Reborn project. The idea of a community-driven, free, and open-source MMORPG caught my attention, and I'm eager to learn more about it. The concept of building a game that's by the community and for the community is fascinating to me, and I'd love to understand how it all works. Could anyone share more details about the project? I'm particularly interested in how contributions are made, the current stage of development, and how newcomers like me can get involved. Also, I'd appreciate any information on the game's vision, the kind of world being created, and the gameplay mechanics being considered.

Welcome to the forums

Well, we're not a mmorpg. Freedom Force is tactical strategy game that allows some multiplayer, more in the sequel, Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich. Its still mainly a soloplayer game though. Finding someone else to play with would be tough.

You're limited to a max squad of 4 that you control.

Just about everything in the game is modable. There are user created items of every type for the game.

Maps, voice packs, fx's, new characters, animations and textures.

There are new missions and campaigns that have been made, but the only one actively being prepped for is a 80's Saturday cartoon one being worked on by one of our few surviving users in that area, Benton Grey.

He has a post in the request area for what hes looking for.

There was talk for a while of making a fan driven sequel, but that's no longer being talked about

The game is now over 20 years old and the heyday of having lots of modders and websites for it are long past.

Since the game is so old also, there are thousands are resources for it though. The list I'm working on is over 8000 for new characters alone, and I've still got lots to add to it.

If you still want to get involved with all that, You could make a campaign if you want to get involved with that and have something you want to see. There's info on easyscript that would help with that

The request area still has people looking for things that haven't made it into the game yet. If you can texture, work with Blender or another program for meshing, rigging or animating that would be great.
