FFClassic alien portal sound missing.

was playing the ffclassic mod and found that the alien portals have no sound.
So I followed some tutorials here and added sound files for these resource tab effects.

sounds taken from original FF game's Sounds\fx folder.

but for some reason the sounds aren't playing when the effect is playing.
Am I doing something wrong?

so after fiddling with ffedit for awhile.
I figured out what the issue was.
By changing local sound (3d) to global sound (2d).
The sound plays
