yes i accidentaly merged too files they are fx and a copy of fx but when i start up ffx3.3 this is what comes up. failed to load character def. please can some one  help me

If you haven't done much FFX customizations, it might just be easier to reinstall FFX again. The times Ive seen that error usually means some of the dat files got tweaked and trying to track down where can be a pain.

Normally what I do, is I install FFX. Make a copy of the folder, and rename the copy something like FFX_BASE. That way if I'm messing around with files and screw something up, I can just copy back the original files that I broke because I have a backup.

i merged the files with ffedit

And merging dat files can often cause what I referred to as "tweaked" files....
Like I said, I would just start over and reinstall FFX.

So it was working before you merged the dat files and then stopped after that?
When you reinstalled did you delete the existing FFX folder or just overwrite the files?

yes i did  overwrite the files

You can try starting the regular game (not with FFX enabled) and see if it starts ok. If it does than its probably an FFX issue and I would try deleting the FFX directory entirely and installing it clean. If the regular game has the same problem, then something really got borked and you may just try reinstalling the game again (it's happened to most of us at one point or another).

the regular freedom force works just fine by the directory do you meen the main file ??

When you install FFX it should have created a directory called ffx3.
This is the FFX mod directory and contains FFX, you should be able to run the uninstaller or just delete that ffx3 directory. and then try reinstalling again.

ok i installd ffx but it is doing the same thing but what is strange it works just fine in administrator mode  how come is it doing that ??
