Google Hijack Virus

So, I just had to deal with an extremely difficult hijack virus on my work computer. It would redirect every result I was searching for to a really crappy search engine. Anyone else get one of these or was I the only stupid person to open an email from someone I wasn't sure about (I am sure this has something to do with me talking so much smack to the search team over at Bing.com)?
