I just rebought the game from steam havent played it in ages so I figured $7.95 was worth it. Anyway I have Vista Home Premium on a Intel DuoCore Acer Aspire 7730 nVidia Cuda gfx card. I love the game and it is no fun without sound. Once again here are the details

Ive tried compatiblity mode (as we all know vista sucks comp mode never works)
xp, and 98

Vista Home Premium
Intel DuoCore
nVidia Cuda 9300M GS
3gb DDR2
250 gb HDD

I had sound for about 30 seconds after install then it quit.

At least, having had sound for the first 30 seconds is some good news as it means it can be made to work. I'd suggest, in order: reboot; in the game options, try to change the sound to software emulation (or anything else if it fails); check you sound driver for update.

Also, I think I recall an issue some folks had in the first game where you had to make sure that you were on the sound tab when you left the game options, otherwise the settings could get garbled. In other words, whenever you make any options changes (related to sound or not), make sure you click back on the sound tab before leaving the options.
