I'm using Firefox as my browser and it has this hidden "function" that I manage to keep activating involving the "t" and "y" keys.  If I am typing the "y" key seems to insert random stuff (although I am sure there is a reason to what it is inserting) and the "t" key makes the cursor jump, I believe, to where ever the mouse pointer is.  It happens mostly when I am typing rapidly and seems to be cause by a "tap" versus "press" type action, but I haven't been able to make it happen intentionally with any regularity, so I am still not sure.

Does anybody know what I am talking about, and how to shut it off?

Err? strange. You have the latest version installed (3.5.3)? Does it happen when you start in safe-mode (without extensions, etc.) with no other app (including taskbar-tray resident programs)?

What OS are you using it on?  I use Ubuntu 9.04 with Firefox 3.0.14 and have tried pressing the t and y keys with combinations of shift, CTRL, and Alt and have not been able to get the message you are talking about.

It must be some universal setting as I am now using google chrome and they "Y" thing is still happening.  It's so bizarre and frustrating . . .

I have the same problem with the cursor jumping and I have Inernet Explorer.  I would be typing away and look up at the screen to find that I am now typing at a totally different part of the screen.  I figured it had something to do where the mouse is but had no idea what triggered it, and like you I can't purposly replicate it.  I'll have to sewhen the next time it happens if "T" was the last letter I pressed before the jump.

Yuan, have you checked to make sure that your keyboard isn't sticky.  This could be especially a problem if you have kids or are like me and eat in front of the keyboard like I know I shouldn't.  If your keys are sticky, a solution of denatured alcohol will clean your keys without damaging your keyboard.
