Related to DDS conversions

I'm trying to simply do a different background scene, scrolling, preferrably, & cannot seem to get a JPEG to convert to DDS. I'm using ImageConverter Plus 8.0.5 to do the JPEG to TGA & I did convert the JPEG in question to TGA, first, but still get the same error as I did when trying the JPEG to DDS..."not a power of 2". I thought I'd seen that in a tutorial or string here somewhere, but can no longer find it. I appreciate you guys. Peace.

...and using DDS Converter 2.1 to do the final convert to DDS format.
