help installing adclaw's Sentinel SFX and MentalFX86Pack

Hi there,
Just needing help installing Adclaws custom fx's which you can get under his section at FXForce. Specifically the Sentinel SFX and MentalFX86Pack.

The downloadable files come with dat's, which cause my game to stop working once i merge them so im needing to create each effect along with appropriate sounds. Seemingly easy enough, since im now comfortable installing effects into (ffvttr) ffx3.3 via ffedit.
The only problem is i dont know at what points (nodes section i.e- weapon, head, right hand etc) to link the fx's up to.

Can anyone out there who has them successfully installed possibly send me a message with the appropriate points to link up the nodes? This isn't an easy request i realize, so if you can help i'd appreciate it.

One other quick question someone might be able to answer for me, i'm looking to install flying effects on certain characters and to do this i am fairly certian i need to create a character in FFEdit. I'm just not sure how to do this as the edit doesnt seem to be able to see my custom characters (as they are in the actual FF root directory section, not FFx3 which is where my FFedit is set up and pointing to. I've tried copying the custom characters folder into the ffx\Art\library\characters section, yet it still doesnt show up in FFEdit. Please help, what am i missing here?
(is it possible to drag a premade custom character somewhere, so that it then shows up in FFEdit?)

Can't help with the first one, but later versions of Alex's EZHero Editor had a function that let you select a custom hero file and place it in your characters.dat with the click of a button. Then you can edit the flying FX.

thanks Gremlin, i downloaded the ez hero but it wouldnt start up when i clicked its .exe (its not compatible with my current setup)

I'm happy to do this the long way around, just needing to know how to go about it.

Here is what i would try and do....in regards to trying to put flame effects on "cannonball" while he's flying

- open ffedit (with it set up to ffx3 folder)
- go to templates section and create custom character named "cannonball" (linking it to cannonballs mesh .nif) -which isn't in my ffx3 directory but the actual ff directory
- go to characters section and create new character with same name as template (cannonball)

I've tried this thinking it would work, however the effects still arent showing up in game. Are there any steps missing from this or whatever?
