Weird website behavior

So, I've got this link for a website in my Favorites, and I've also saved a shortcut for it to the desktop.  For whatever reason, it defaults to a *blank* icon (not the default IE icon).  I've gone in & changed the icon both on the desktop and in Favorites.  However, each time I use the link, it changes the one that I used (either the desktop one or the one in Favorites) back to the blank icon, as if the website is updating the icon back to what their default is.  Anybody got any insight what might be causing this, and how to stop it?  Google wasn't much help, so I thought I'd try to tap our repository of odd knowledge.
