Okay, here is the lay of the land.  The dear, beloved wife spent the night away from the house yesterday  as she has some choral obligations today that required her to rehearse at a town over from ours.   So, it?s Marine-Dad on his own since yesterday afternoon.  No problem.  Really, they got fed (with real food), bathed (with warm soapy water), and slept in their beds (not in poncho liners on the floor).

Actually, it really wasn?t that tough.  I never have any real issues when I have to manage the little heathens (I mean, little dears) alone by myself for any amount of time.  With ?Little Man? (my youngest) being 2 ?, play time sometimes consists of multiple readings of ?Knuffle Bunny?, some rough and tumble in the living room or back yard, and detailed observations of the barn swallow nest (complete with chirping/pooping baby birds) that is built in the awning over our front door.

Now, my oldest is a happy, curious six year old.  I would discuss our emotional observation of her graduation from Kindergarten last week, but to quote one of my idols, Alton Brown, ?That?s another episode?.   Due to her young age, we haven?t really exposed to a lot of the ?super-hero stuff? that ?Daddy likes?; explicitly, the Justice League episodes I have on DVD, etc.  However, she is a huge fan of Kim Possible, which is a super-heroine of sorts, and is age appropriate I think for her sweet, gentle, little six year old brain.

This morning, as I was feeding our youngest his breakfast, she came down the stairs, fully dressed and ready for the day.  Get this: a purple tee-shirt, dress white gloves, and dark jeans with a rope tied through the belt loops.  The finishing touch?  A ?Tiny Tikes? PDA toy (complete with flashing lights, sounds, and LED screen)  tucked into the belt to simulate some sort of ?tech-attachment?.  She put together her ?Kim Possible? ensemble completely n her own!  It looks quite good I must say, and I am quite pleased.  I would expect that in a few more years, we can begin working in some of the more ?family friendly? comics?.no Garth Ennis for a while I would think.

I know her mother will be chagrined to see this outfit, just as she is when both my kids plop onto the couch with me to watch ?Good Eats? on DVD and extol the virtues of AB.  I can only grin, shrug self-consciously, and try not to look too pleased with myself.
Me like funny Pictures.  Make laugh, make laugh now!
