Freedom Force Fans I Need Your Help!!!!

A while ago my PC crashed. I have since been through multiple PCs and I'm still putting things back together. I even went so far as to purchase a new PC running Windows 7. Way too many headaches so I had my brother build me a PC running Windows XP.

This is my problem: I'm trying to pick up Freedom Force where I left off but certain things are hazy. I can not remember exactly how to add custom characters. I know that meshes are placed in the Custom_Characters folder and that custom skins are placed in the skins folder inside of the proper mesh folder. But I seem to remember something about adding material to the character.dat file or the hero.dat file.

I have similar problems with custom FX and custom sounds. I guess I basically have to re-learn everything. Could someone PLEASE help me out with this! At least point me in the right direction.
