Is there an alternative to FFEdit?

See topic name. I'm somewhat interested in poking around with FFEdit and making missions, but I wasn't really able to install it properly as I'm using the Steam version. This led me to wonder if the modding community had whipped up their own tool for such things. If not that's completely understandable, I'll just have to root around for my disc copy.

You can install the mod tools for the steam version using Alex's FFVTTr_modtools program.  That seems to work.  It's available at alexff.com
