I downloaded a new copy of ffvt3r from GOG yesterday. The game now comes installed inside of this bloatware called the "GOG Galaxy," the game works fine, but the bloatware is preventing me from getting the FFX downloads installed. I get the manual & the control center for FFX but the shortcut doesn't show up on the desktop & I can see that the FFX files are not installing inside the ffvt3r folder.

I tried pulling the ffvt3r folder out of the GOG program but it won't allow me to do that either.

Any ideas?

I have the GOG galaxy version with FFX working fine.
I don't remember if I had the same problem as you when i installed it, but if I had that problem, I probably would have tried to install FFX manually, i.e. copy the FFX folder from somewhere else and paste it into the game folder.

With GOG it will also allow you to download the offline files version of the game. This might be better for your purposes.

Thanks guys!

I did the manual install of ffvt3r (outside of the gog galaxy file) & installed FFX into that folder, now both FFX & ffvt3r are working correctly. Whew.

Now I just need to put my back-up files that I saved the other day back in.

The .hero files go inside the local user folder, but does everything else go inside the FFX folder, or does it all go into the ffvt3r file, or is there some mix of both?

I advise you to make a copy of the FFX folder, and name it whatever you want. That will be your own mod, and there you can drop everything.
Be aware that some of the characters, maps or fx may not work because the game file path may have changed to c:/.../GOG Galaxy/. If that is the case you may want to fix this with FFEDIT....This is the tedious part where i have to install everything manually and one by one  :banghead:
