Hello guy, i'm gonna need a favor from someone who knows how to transfer keyframes. I need the ranged_7 animation from male_basic to be transfered to fat_vobra_gren. I have complied the mesh and the keyframes and uploaded it in mediafire here https://www.mediafire.com/file/wcxe1847ko3ovcu/Fat+Cobra_Gren.rar/file

I need this animation to complete my hero file for Fat Cobra so i would greatly appreciate the help

If they're compatible, you can open them both in nifskope and just transfer it over with copy and paste. If they're not, it would take Blender or something similar to transfer the mesh male_basic armature onto the Fat cobra mesh, but you'd lose any special Fat Cobra animations and just have all the male_basic ones.

If no one else does, I'll try to take a look at it this weekend.

RD, how will i know if they are compatible? I have nifskope and i cant try it.

The easiest way is to check is rename the fat cobra kf to something temp, copy the male_basic kf over in its place, and run character viewer. If fat cobra animates, you're compatible.

If that works, then try below;

It's been awhile and I'm not at home  but try this : 1)open up the male_basic kf with nifskope
                                                                          2) select the ranged_7 animation and copy it (I think right click on it)
                                                                          3) do not close the nifskope window or you'll lose the link.
Either use the "Open new nifskope" option from the menu or open a second
                                                                              window manually.
                                                                          4) open the fat cobra kf in the scond window
                                                                          5) If you right click anywhere in the kf list and your link is good, you ought to see
                                                                              something like "Paste at bottom"
                                                                          6) it might take a little bit to update, but the new animation should appear at the bottom of the list of animations
                                                                          7) save the altered kf under a different name to keep from messing up your original kf

After that, put the original fat cobra kf somewhere or give it a temp new name, put your new one in its place with the standard name. and try opening with character viewer.

If you're still compatible, you should see the mesh animating normally on all animations still. If you're locked up, altogether or with the new animation, you're not compatible any more or you broke the kf.

If so, then Blender might be the answer.

So here is the weird thing RD , i copied the male_basic kefs to fat cobra and although the mesh propertions got distorted in a comical way he still has animations in the CT. However when i try to copy ranged_7 in the cobra kfs nifskope window it says something like the version of the Nif versions differ, current version:4.0.0.2
                                                                            clipboard data version:10.1.0.0

Is there a solution to that?

Jimaras8

Ok, new update. I converted the cobra mesh and the animation was transfered however there is a problem. Every time cobra uses it the mesh proprtions change and he gets distorted and srhunk. I think it has something to do with the mesh and the fact that he is a bigger character than most. Any tips?

Randomdays

4.0x would be FF1.

!0.x would be FF2

The distortion is due to the meshes not being the same size, so the bones aren't the same size.

I'll try to download your file and fix it up this weekend. Shouldn't be too difficult to fix in Blender.

I'd have to bind the Fat Cobra mesh to the male_basic armature.

As stated above though, you'll wind up with the male_basic kfs all together. If there are any Fat Cobra special animations, you'll lose them.

If there are any other kfs that have the same animation as male basic but with more choices, you might want to look at that as well. Take a look at some of the kfs out there with a lot of animations choices in their kfs - Taskmaster, pulp versatile and Tommyboy's TV ones come to mind.

I could probably tie the mesh to one of these if you wanted.

Jimaras8

RD when you say i will lose all of Cobra's animations" Do you mean both melee and ranged? THere are plenty of special animations i have used already, i wouldnt want to lose them. It will basically ruin the hero file all together. Is there a way to combine the animations from both meshes so Cobra has both the ones Gren gave him and the ones from male_basic?

BTW thanks for all your time and patience, you have been very helpful

Randomdays

I'll have to look at them both, but its doubtful. I might be able to adapt the male basic by resizing him to match fat cobra's size in Blender and see what happens. This might fix the distortion problem.

Jimaras8

If i could just have the ranged_7 animation along with the rest Gren gave him, that would be ideal. He is a martial artist and he has a lot of unique anims so the hero file wouldnt. If it not possible, thats ok. I wanted to explore all the opinions.

Randomdays

Started working on it.... Trying a few things. With Blender, it matters which of the two meshes you import in first.

I'll give an update later.

Thanks for all the effort RD. Even if it doesnt work, i appreciate it

Hey RD, any luck with Fat Cobra?

eluvium

does the keyframe transfer program still exist and where can I find it

?
