Deaths Jester

Yeah, Doc Savage was formula too. Me, I prefer Shadow, the second Spider (first one was a "fat" criminal), and the John Doe stories along with some other pulps (mainly the criminal type stories...Fu Manchu, Rafferty, ect comes to mind). Was never a Zorro fan...just wasn't my thing.

Edit: I do like McCulley's Thubway Tham series though....very formulaic but the patois, setting, and fact that Tham is very much grounded in the real world mad eit very fun to read. Course you ahve to also notice that many of the pulps I read were originally illustrarated by top level artists too.  Give me something that Baumhoffer, the Rozen brothers, Lovell, Howitt, and such and I'm more likely to dig into them with gusto.  McCulley's stuff wasn't always illustrated by the better known artists and at times were a bit...crude.  Just a taste thing I guess..but anyways, we're wandering off subject again, Glob...
Avatar picture originally a Brom painting entitled Marionette.

Haha, Pulp-pool looks like something he would totally do...also...I'd read that book!

The Avengers look great, DG!  Steed is an especially nice skin.  I like the detail of the suit, and the face is impressive.

The name is fairly popular, from pulp heroes to 1960's games (one of which is sitting in the closet in the other room). But, look at this guy; doesn't he just beg to be skinned?

This was in Scoops Comics from Harry Chesler.

BentonGrey

No kidding!  Wow, DG, he's really neat looking, and you've done a great job with the skin!  I really love the skull-head.

Cyber Burn

Gotta agree here. Excellent Facial Work here, but I wouldn't expect anything less from you either.  :D

daglob

This one was created by Johnston McCulley, the creator of Zorro.

BentonGrey

Haha, not quite as creative in the costume department, is he?  Great skin, DG!

McCulley was fond of caballeros (Zorro and Captain Devil-May-Care, for instance), and guys in robes and hoods (Black Star), and guys in suits and hoods (The Bat, The Man in Purple, and The Green Ghost).

I've still got the pulp Green Ghost, and one from Harvey Comics to do.

Cyber Burn

Is that the Hood from Texas Jack's "Hate Monger" Mesh? If so, I'm doubly impressed with the Skin. I've tried Skinning it a few times, and had just horrid results.

daglob

It is. I used Zulu Delta's version as a guide. The right eye is a little crooked, but it doesn't look too bad. I wonder if it could be fixed in Nifscope...

This is a character who is so obscure he has never appeared in a comic book. He and his sidekick Goldy were created by a young Frank Frazetta. This guy's name is The Red Devil.

BentonGrey

Haha, so where IS he from?

Nice skin, DG.   :)

It's from one of the comics stories printed in "Frank Frazetta-Art and Remembrances" by Frank Jr.

Cool!  Someone wants to be Robin.  ;)

I like the work on the mask, DG.

This is an attempt at doing Dr. Weerd, an opponent of The Star Spangled Kid.

daglob

Here we have our ol' buddy Simon Garth, shambling your way just in time for Halloween.

Cyber Burn

Nice! Dr. Weird looks interesting as well.

daglob

DR. Weerd looks like Mr. Hyde, mainly because he is Mr. Hyde. He drinks a serum and transforms from respected physician to lumbering criminal. I'm trying to finish two other Star Spangled Kid villains: Mr. Gool (one wonders about the writer's spelling  ;) ), and The Needle. Of course, there is another hero (which one, which one... there were so many) who had a villain named The Gimp (with a sword instead of a peg leg) and The Hook (with a hook for a hand, natch). Those two eventually teamed up.

BentonGrey

Ha, interesting!  Who followed who, Marvel's Hyde or this Weerd fellow?

I just think those Eyebrows are a trip, imagine having an FX solely for those.  :P

Dr. Weerd first appeared in Star Spangled Comics 1, 1940. He was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Sherman. He really ought to be hunchbacked. I wish we had a Male Hulking Hunchback Suit...

CB, what you can't see is his hair spilling down his back, and I haven't tried to put his sideburns on yet. They hang down past his collar.

Cyber Burn

Isn't there a Male_Heavy Hunchback type mesh floating around somewhere? I want to say that it was made by Valandar. But, would that work?

daglob

I've been thinking of putting Tommy's pieces on it. I have a skin for that mesh with Lon Chaney Sr.'s face...
