@Doc: Correct your post please, you quoted it improperly.

@TUE: Spaz down man, I don't think anyone is suggesting that you go away. I mean, who else will help me kill people like Neros?

Also... I am also curious about how all the heroforce people automatically are Champions now. How come no one thinks of NPI? We're a major site too, GDI!

docdelorean88

Sorry about that, my mouse randomly goes crazy and clicks places i haven't. Really, i appologize if i offended anyone, i really was meaning the websites, not the artists. I love the works from the folks an HF. I couldn't replace them. :)

I'm not a Champion. Still a proud member of Heroforce even though the site is practically inactive.

I won a beer drinking championship, am I am champion?  Sorry for the post steal.

As always excellent attention to detail with the Titans.  Love em

The Hitman

I'd like to think we're all Champions. I for one am the Champion of Coffee Drinking and Grand Ideas that Never Seem to Get Finished.

Speaking of the Heroforce website, Podmark's section isn't working anymore.

Technically the whole site is down. We closed it because of Malware issues and things will disappear completely soon enough. Sad day. I'll have to find a new place for me stuff...

Yeah, the site has been a complete and utter mess to deal with and I'm so busy with my job and freelance client I don't have much time to work out the kinks just yet.

As for me releasing the stuff I did. I'm not even sure. Most of it isn't zip ready and there is a lot of it. Yahoo groups just aren't appealing to me personally anymore it would be a million times easier for me to release on my blog or some place else (there have been offers) but I just haven't had the time to think about that stuff much. Sorry.

Whether you decide to release or not, I'm just happy to see you creating. Your preview pics alone are awesome and I always enjoy checking them out. Best of luck with everything.  :D

What do you mean Heroforce is down? I know there hasn't been any updates, but at least I can get to the site.

http://heroforce.freedomforceforever.com/HFindex.htm

EDIT: Oh okay, I see what you mean. But why not just keep it up for everyone to see. There is a lot of great work on there.

I occasionally like to look back at my previous work once I've updated a skin and there is not a skin that has been through more changes than my personal avatar. While I'm still not certain why I choose the name AfghanAnt so many years ago, I do remember why I updated my avatar over the last 7 years: The Secret History of an Avatar - AfghanAnt

Want to see what AfghanAnt looks like now?

Spoiler

Read through the history, pretty interesting, and yeah the new av does seem to be channeling McGuinness. This one is going to take some getting used to, the face is a significant change.

Really great update! And pods right about the McGuiness thing for sure. ;)
I can't help it that I look so good baby! I'm just a love machine!

Ewzzy

I love the avatar retrospective. I don't like the new avatar though. I've always though of the smooth skin and childlike quality of the Hyperion version of you as a defining characteristic. The new one looks more militant for sure, but it doesn't seem like you.

(not that my opinion matters, it is your avatar after all)

I did my own avatar retrospective on my site. Mine has has a lot less direction than yours. I have no idea what I was thinking on some of them.

deano_ue

damn he looks buff.

HA hey murs my mate can beat up your mates lol

seriously though man the design is solid, you've kept the base elements that worked on the character and enhance the the others, i'm not feeling the mouth very stern and serious maybe i'm just used to the smirk

Yeah, I would be lying if I said I wasn't influenced by Dr Mike's Tales of the Navigator version when I reimagined this one. The way he looked before just didn't match the "warrior/diplomat" idea and I feel like AA hasn't been cheery person for a long time now.

No doubt I've been channeling him in my latest work - I can not wait to show everyone what else I've been cooking up.

While I see what you mean, AfghanAnt and Hyperion haven't really resembled each since 2003-ish. In fact, I end up taking those cute characteristics and giving them to a robot called "UltrahellesAnt". In essence, it is closer to original Hyperion than AfghanAnt has ever been -jovial, forever young, randomly named powers "violent howling cry", "illuminated fusion glare", and my personal favorite "shining slave".

The AfghanAnt that's been active since HIVEworld is a pretty dark character - he's been brainwashed, depowered, and disgraced. So for me the normal progression in my mind was to essentially reboot the character back to his Navigator origin and design from there.. There is no longer a HIVEworld, cheery butterfly-winged sidekicks, or upstart predecessors - there is just diplomat warrior with a really big robot (UltrahellesAnt has been redesigned as well).

Steroids. Lots of them.

I'm surprised everyone misses the smirk but I guess it's been there since the beginning - maybe I'll do an alternate version of him being not so serious.

i don't know why i like maybe i'm looking too much into it but i always seen the avs on here compared to existing characters. i've said to you before i always seen AA in the same area of the likes of superman and thor a solid power house who can be serious and ruthless warrior but usually the one that stopped other crossing the line

maybe i missed what you were trying to do

murs47

Oh ya, McGuiness for sure. That's a great thing in my eyes. If I ever was going to create a base skin, I was going to use his art as my reference. Anyways, I love the new skin and the retrospective is cool.

That's dead-on - He's a little Captain Marvel (both of them), Mon'El and some Starfire (believe it or not). To be honest, the smirk was just legacy from the original idea of this naive Ultra-boy/Astroboy alien boy and maybe a little bit of me (I'm a little mischievous).

I think maybe the biggest difference between this version and the previous version is he's not optimistic - he's troubled as a chosen warrior of a people would be.

Figure Fan

I really like the new avatar, and the history was definitely a trip down memory lane. Nice write-up.

I do agree with some of the others though, that his mouth should have more of a smirk to it, or at least be a little bit wider so doesn't look like he's puckering up for a kiss. Otherwise, I like the hair and eyebrows, and the slight changes to the costume. It's very Marvel vs Capcom, and as you mentioned, Ed McG.
