Hey Tommy, good luck buddy!  I think you've given us enough to tide us over for a while with your zillion and one meshes. ;)  I can't wait to hear about this new project!

Zatanna_se_tf ("se" being Satellite Era. Hey, it's better than "bug-head"*)

*Though closer inspection of reference material reveals it's either a Dragon, Snake or maybe Horse

Great rendition of a costume I always hated on her
Don't know why but around the time she started wearing that, I stopped reading comics for quite a while.

Thanks.
Yeah, the costume isn't one of my favourites either, but you know that impulse to make 'em all, it cannot be denied....

Alaric

Nice. I know that costume's not popular, but, to me, the ideal Justice League would be a better-done, somewhat-updated version of the Satellite Era League, so this makes me happy.

Are you going to do her previous costume, too- the one she wore when she joined the Justice League?
Fear the "A"!!!

Tomato

Very nice work Tommy. I can definitely see subtle improvements in quality here.

AfghanAnt

Good to see you back in the game, Tommy. I really hate this costume for Zatanna but I love the bits of hair and the face came out exceptionally well.

Gremlin

I'll chime in again with the "hate the costume, love the mesh" crowd. Although that headpiece could be used in other things quite effectively.

tommyboy

Thank you all for the kind words.
Who knows, I may get around to finishing my mediocre Arnim Zola mesh soon.
Gotta move house this month though, so disruption + possibly no internerd for a bit = might not get much meshing done...

John Jr.

Great job, as always. Zatanna has very expressive eyes.
Congrats!

laughing paradox

Love the mesh and I really love the female_basic piece you're created.

Great to see you meshing again, Tommy. Was actually just thinking the other day "Haven't seen Tommy around much..."

I don't understand why everyone HATES that costume?  It's not great, but why hate it?

Because if Zatanna is wearing THAT, she is not wearing her main outfit.

Just for fun I checked out Mile High Comics and The Grand Bomic Book Database, and it seems as though the thing on her head started out looking like a centipede, but eventually became the much nicer dragon-looking thingie that Tommy has done.

I like this better than the run of JLA when she actually wore this outfit.

Yeah, the only half-decent, detailed reference shots I could find were the "dragon-esque" version (including a JLA story illustrated by Don Heck in a JLA/JSA/All Star Squad crossover), so I went with that. It is kind of "Identity Crisis" influenced, mainly because the shots of her in that are generally more detailed than the earlier stuff from when she actually wore this outfit.
I have to say, I do kind of like it as a costume. The Bug/dragon/whatever is so out of left field and inexplicable, combined with the weird cheek-protector things it is so strange that if you keep looking at it, it actually starts to make sense somehow. Like the opposite of that effect when you say a word over and over till it loses all meaning?  And the collar? Also weird, but a bit less so, as are the flared sleeves and thigh boots. Those are closer to "standard" superhero costume weird. But the head gear? Should get an award for most bizarre but oddly aesthetic costume piece.

Inspired by the C6/AA skin-off, I whipped this up yesterday.

Not quite up to their standards, but I'm happy with it as a quickie.

WOW! You know you're wrong for this C6 and AA are going to have to put thier skins on this also. You are wrong but soooo right!

Awesome job Tom! The only critique that I have is that the chest straps need to be a little more separated...they'd crisscross behind the symbol. ;) And this is definitely a Dick Grayson Red Robin right?

I can't help it that I look so good baby! I'm just a love machine!

AfghanAnt

Oy Vey...now I have to update my Red Robin skin.  <_<

Outcast

Hey, for a quick skin and mesh it looks great Tommy. Nice job! It's cool to see the face was photo skinned too.

Yes, I had a bit of a time getting the straps on him. Sometimes they are drawn as in the pic you show, almost down to waist level. Other times they barely go below the ribcage. Then there's where they cross. I agree it looks like mine has the crossing point a bit too low (or the disk too high). I dunno that I'll fix it just yet. Maybe in a day or two if I get time...
And I'm not sure who it is, honestly. My reference was partly the new Red Robin comic (Tim Wayne), but I got a bunch of images off google that could be Grayson or Jason.. he's whoever you want him to be..

I hate Tim Drake being Tim Wayne. He is so angsty.

I know what you mean. He used to be a very capable, level headed character, now...not so much. I suppose to be fair, he has been through a lot (what with losing two fathers, best friends, having his identity as Robin given to a jackass etc etc). Still, I hope he can get back to where he was a year or two ago.

I have a feeling with him being pushed to this liminal place he'll be killed off because ultimately he will suffer from the same thing that befalls so many sidekicks who don't become the hero (Red Arrow, Tempest, Donna Troy and Nightwing before he became Batman). He can't ever go back to being Robin and he'll never be Batman (especially when Dick just became Batman).

Blkcasanova247

I get where they?re taking him and why he?s so angst ridden. I hate that they?re calling him Tim Wayne or that?s how he?s referring to himself. I like the darker tone of the book even though I?m not a fan of the artist. And I?ve always loved the character of Red Robin and I like that someone as interesting as Tim has taken over the mantle. I think it will and should stick. Anyway you?re awesome Tommy for putting so many details in it even the full mask.

Tomato

I guess my thing is, I kind of always felt this is the direction Tim was going to go... not necessarily the "ANGST!" thing, but taking the mantle of Red Robin. There were numerous references in Teen Titans to Tim not wanting the Batman role, or the Nightwing role for that matter. Unlike Dick Grayson, who was always kind of intended to take up that role should the need arise, Tim has always forged his own path... and I look forward to how they mold him into a hero in his own right.

Podmark

Mesh looks great Tommy.
How old is Tim supposed to be anyway? I had him at 17 after OYL. A smaller build for Tim might be good.

I got no problem with Tim being Tim Wayne after the adoption, makes sense. Not happy with the angsty direction though.
And is Cassandra now a Wayne? She was supposed to have been adopted at the end of her mini?
