Also isn't Bob a little to old to be called Marvel Boy and he most certainly can't be Marvel Man.
Damn your logic...
Never stopped Invisible Girl, or Marvel Girl...... or me....

umm didn't sue become invisible woman and marvel girl become phoenix when they got older

Whatever they are Sue Storm and Jean Grey. Just like Phoenix/Marvel Girl became Rachel Summers, White Queen is now Emma Frost, Troia/Wondergirl is Donna Troy, Batgirl is Cassandra Cain, Shadowcat is Kitty Pryde, and Jewel is Jessica Jones. I'm sure there are more too.

It annoys me female characters always grow up but never get new code names that stick and how come Iceman has always been Iceman? Not Iceboy?

John Jr.

Great to see Atlas in so good hands! A impressive Uranian!
Thanks Tom!

Didn't Tommyboy become Sir Thomas when he was knighted for his fine meshing of Atlas?

It's true there are fora where I go by "tommyman". Maybe it should be The Earthian?

You do have a point about Iceman (and the same goes for Spider-Man). I think Stan Lee correctly realized that no teenager is going to want to call themselves "Boy" anything, they'd consider themselves men. Unfortunately, in that era, it was still common for even grown women to be referred to as "girls", and the superhero names followed suit.

The other problem with Jean is that "Marvel Girl" is a crap name, and "Marvel Woman" isn't any better. Sort of like how no one ever calls Reed Richards "Mr. Fantastic", because it sucks. Calling her "Phoenix" is problematic, since they decided that the Phoenix was a separate entity (or have they retconned that again?). And by this point, she's gone without a code-name for so long, that no new one is likely to stick -- once you've established "just Jean Grey" in several movies and cartoons, it's pretty much set in stone.

Previsionary

Jean's official codename is Phoenix. They're one in the same as of New X-men (V.1) and Phoenix: Endsong. Otherwise, she's just Jean Grey. Same thing with Susan. Her codename may be Invisible Woman, but she's called Sue/Susan more often than by her code name (It's not like the fan 4 actually need codenames when their names are public). The only problem with Jean is that her "spawn" Rachel is around going by both of Jean's old code names.

- right, tell that to Hawkman or Powergirl :P

Back on topic, I gotta say Tommy, that these new meshes are pretty kickbutt.
I can't wait to see what type of animations you have up your sleeve for M-11,  and the Uranian looks great! I love the fishbowl head concept on anybody!
think about it.  Batman with a fishbowl head? cool.

daglob

Got a Batman in a spacesuit started... TV mesh, of course.

tommyboy

Spacesuit Batman will be teh kewlar.
Although in general I do prefer Marvel BOY!!!'s original look, I will give credit to whoever designed the Uranian look; it's got an old, old school Wally Wood/ Basil Wolverton vibe going on. Maybe with a dash of Frank R. Paul thrown in. Which is perfectly perfect. Sort of wish they'd kept the rings on the knees and elbows, even though the mesh would have been harder to make, but I can sort of see why they migrated down to boot/glove cuff type positions.

And the Batman is always prepared. So he has a helmet if he needs one...Wolverine, on the other hand could survive outer space, because he has teh klwas..and a haeling fatcor...like Rouge, and Poehnix.

It's from an online strip called Shortpacked.. which is based around a ruthless boss of a toy store and his employees that work there. It has many funny moments which usually take a jab or two at the toy industry and the companies that make action figures which just make no sense at all in design (hence the Batman In Space panel which is still one of their best panels yet).

You can check it out here: www.shortpacked.com

It's too long, doesn't relate to his powers, and makes him sound like an egomaniac.  :P

So, how about them Tommyboy meshes? Pretty cool, eh?

He makes what now?

Aaanyhoo. Sorry to derail the thread, but I'm quite excited by how well Human_robot_tf is coming along. So much so that i'll bore you with more W.I.P. preview pics of the new arms.
These are completely remade, and unlike anything I've made before. Each arm is fully articulated with 19 bones, which makes for smoother curves and stretching than any other method I've used before.
It also makes for a lot of work animating them, as you might imagine. So far, only the beginnings of a couple of animations on the left arm, to give you a flavour:
stretching

and curving

They will of course be able to stretch and curve. And ignore the hands for the moment. He will switch between open and closed hands eventually, but at the moment has both at once.
To me, the arms are a thing of wonder and beauty. To you, they are the reason this mesh wont get released for aaaaaages yet...

Fantastic work on Human Robot..

However, does this mean that you might use these new animations on a possible Mr. Fantastic update somewhere down the road?

Thanks all.
@CQ, sorta, kinda, maybe. Bear in mind I'm not done with them yet, so it may turn out to be totally impractical to do, in terms of time and effort. Or, it may be that I can relatively easily re-use the arm stuff in other meshes. And I'm mostly happy with Mr_Fantastic anyway, so I dunno. The one that keeps popping into my head is Dr. Octopus. (Again with the redundancy, since Beyonder did a perfect one, but at least mine could be used to skope other stuff, if'n I made a Doc Ock).
Anyway, at the moment, its all a bit theoretical until I have at least one set of arm anims done for HR/M11.  I'm thinking that real life/work/etc allowing, I can maybe do 2 anims a day. So that's *counts on fingers*....eleventy days!

Xenolith

Not only is that a really nice mesh and skin, but the animations look really, really great.

Gremlin

Wow! That bending is incredibly smooth. Excellent work! Is the corkscrew shown earlier part of the regular arm moving, or is it a second arm piece that gets brought up?

The one shown earlier was a pre-made second bit. I can get one loop on the animated arm, so far, so I may still have the premade one swapped in for at least one animation.
This took all of 10 minutes to animate:

and looks pretty good in action. I will probably have a few static "grapple" animations which match the corresponding ranged/melee.
