Aww, man.  Those are beyond awesome.  I never thought I'd see the LMD Zodiac's!  Thanks Tommy.  Taurus' face is great.

Those are great, Tom!  Cancer and Taurus are my faves.

Wow, tommyboy, as usual, fantastic work! The Zodiac characters are truly great, especially Cancer. I've never seen a mesh like that before.

Hoping for new releases in the near future.

Wow, I never thought I would see the LMD versions of the Zodiac.  Nice meshin" there Tommy, I really like Taursus's body shape/

Tommy!  Welcome back man!  And I see you come bearing gifts.  These are fantastic!  The Absorbing man turned out perfectly.  I think you really nailed the right build for him, but what are really impressive are these Zodiac guys.  I agree with Xenolith, Taurus' face is really good.  I just love that mesh for Cancer.  He is just plain cool looking.  Did you use comic art for his face and belt?  It's a neat look he's got there.

Thanks,
yeah, if my references have a Kirby-esque quality I'll often steal them use them as a starting point and work some bits in where I can. I could probably do it all myself, but a little bit of me gets a kick from seeing 2d comic art go sort of 3d.

Those are really cool, and they nail down the continued need for true meshers even with nifskope out there. All three Zodiac meshes have elements that would be difficult for a skoper to make that well. Nice work Tommy.

Since my New York City Megamap is some way off yet, I'm toying with releasing the buildings and props separately.
With that in mind, try this out for size. It's my version of the SHIELD Helicarrier. It's big, very big, so you may not be able to view it in ctool, but can in nifskope. The skins are built into the mesh, because that makes my life easier. I may relent and release skinnable versions, since other people can do a better job of skinning than I. The size also means you may not be able to stand on the deck in-game.
Try it out and see. If it's useable, all well and good. If not, I'll have to fix it or run away or something....
To remind you of what it looks like in-game;

The mesh can be found at my website:

Just an FYI to those that are curious... It does work as a map!

tommyboy

BentonGrey

Awesome!  Goggles, will you send that my way?  That is exactly what I was going to do with it.

Excellent! it works as a standalone map?  sweet,  did you put a skysphere on it too goggles?

GogglesPizanno

All I did was take the Mesh, open it up in Nifskope and make the propellers "AREA_UNPASSABLE" and the deck "AREA_METAL" then moved it into its own terrain directory.

Then I created a single line map layout file that points to the mesh.

Then its just open FFEdit, import the layout file, add a skysphere and spawn location markers...

Due to the shape of the mesh, there are a couple of spots where a character can manage to find themselves on the side of the hull along a edge and get stuck halfway down. This could be remedied with a slight alteration of the hull mesh or scaling the deck so that it overhangs the areas in question.

Podmark

Wow that is totally totally amazing. If I was a mod guy I'd soo find a way to use that.

Goggles, how about step-by-step instructions for the mentally-impaired?

If Goggles were kind enough to email me what he's done, or upload to mediafire/rapidshare etc, I could stick it up alongside the mesh at my website. Just a thought...

What I want to know is can this map be used on the original  :ff: game?

Mystik

very nice googles I did the same thing last nigh but I enlarged it by 1.8, so it would fit the pans island map/extents, I'm stilling adding spotlights and fighter jets

tommyboy

Here's a couple of things I'm close to releasing.
First up is a port of my MUA Shang_chi_tf mesh to FF. Pretty bog-standard except I noticed yet again how hard it is to skin toes with the male_basic mapping this mesh uses. So I remapped the top and front of the feet and bodged some poorly executed toes in there. I think someone else already did this sort of remapping before (Vertex, maybe?), but I'm thinking of making it standard on my meshes. I've included the relevant bit of the wire maps so you can see how it works.

Next we have an update to Batman_tf, featuring a spiffy new choice of capes (straight or big and dramatic) with properly meshed scalloping. Also included a choice of belt (pouch-y or those capsule/pod things), and choice of cowl(short or long "ears").
The cape has been made to look smoother in motion than my previous efforts, due to slightly more polys in it, and individually weighting the vertexes. It's the sort of minor difference you might never really notice, and certainly only see in motion, but the new geometry is pretty good, if I say so myself.
Oh, and a new skin, for good measure.

Probably both released in the next few days.

That Master of Kung Fu Mesh looks incredible! Can't wait for the release!
