Fantastic, Tommy, as always. Glad to see you're skinning and meshing again.

I truly enjoy new takes on traditional characters, so your Thor is definitely not redundant. New keyframes are usually a catch for me, and unique kfs do tend to make characters stand out a bit more.

tommyboy

Thank you.
Today brings another "redundant"* mesh, Thing_tf;

Keyframes by Grenadier, 2 skins by me.
I tried to give him the classic Kirby look, and got closer than my last attempt. I've kept him to male_basic height, approximately. I know he is portrayed as bigger sometimes, but for me, it's all about Kirby, and Kirby has him at 6 foot or less.
Replaces the thing_tvlite mesh here:

*By "redundant" I mean already has one or more perfectly splendid meshes, so really doesn't "need" to be meshed again, I'm not looking for pity or putting myself down, merely stating facts.

Podmark

Nice job Tommy, it's good to see you continuing to improve.

Well...well...if it isn't Mrs. Grimm's blue eyed boy...nice job Tom! He's got toes...awsome. Just my opinion here but maybe the shoulders could have been a little lower and the toes just slightly longer and squarer? :P

I can't help it that I look so good baby! I'm just a love machine!

herodad1

tommy, i'm glad you've tried to keep it like kirby's thing.classic all the way!

Good call on the shoulders, will see bout that. Toes already look a little weird. Longer may look weirder...

Hey...he ain't called "The Thing" for nuthin'. :P For me refrence for Ben always goes to Kirby then Byrne. The 3rd version on that image I posted is probably my fave. :P

*sigh*

That last thing picture in the series brings back some fond memroies.

I am going to have to echo the sentiment about Thor and its keyframes.. fantastic stuff. I love the hover and take_flight animations. I like the little things, like when Thor carries something, Mjolnir goes back to his belt. Really nice.

Love the shape of the Thing, too.. the head looks good, as do the toes.

Nice to see you back to meshing, Tommy.

John Jr.

Kirby would be proud.
Best classic Thing ever!
Congrats!

I love collecting meshes of all my favorite characters. So I don't consider any redundant (as long as they're all different). If you don't have tommyboy meshes as part of your collection, then you don't have a collection. :D Great stuff TB!

Kirby rocks! Greatest artist of all time. Like your Thor mesh as well. The KF's are great. He throws his hammer more with your KF's in watch mode while in the air. He usually loses to the Hulk in watch mode when I fight them. Not today. He finally won. I use USAgent hero files. Like the spiky Thing skin as well. Good job as always Tommy. You're the master. You keep the game fresh. Silver age rocks!

tommyboy

Thanks.
Today brings a new mesh, of a version of a character not meshed before (plus new skin, of course)
Uranian_tf:

Available, thanks to the ever generous site provision of Catwhowalksbyhimself (thanks again) here:

Previsionary

It's so nice to see Marvel Boy, a.k.a The Uranian, meshed and skinned. ATLAS FOREVER!
Disappear when you least expe--

AfghanAnt

I love the Uranian and you've certainly done him justice, Tommy.

tommyboy

Thanks.
More Atlas-y goodness coming soon-ish. I'm finally finishing up human_robot_tf (AKA M11), hoping to have some cool stuff on him.

Not to derail the thread, but why is Marvel Boy now called the Urainian?

Podmark

Fair question. He was originally an earth boy taken to a moon of Uranus, or Uranus itself, by his father, where they were given a home by an exiled bunch of Eternals. There were also native, non humanoid Uranians who lived there. The Eternals got wiped out (I forget how), and Marvel Boy was taken in by the native Uranians. But his biology and morphology were substantially changed by his time amongst them. Now he is no longer human, and goes by the descriptive name the Uranian. Plus, there was a nutjob imposter Marvel Boy/Crusader who croaked, maybe he wants to not be associated with or confused with him. Plus someone at Marvel Comics thinks the old Marvel Boy name, powers and costume are too old and lame. Me, I liked him more before. Maybe Marvel lost the copyright or something...

Xenolith

I remember the Crusader bit from Fantastic Four but didn't know about the Eternals.  I'll have to track those stories down.  THanks.

The Eternals and non-human stuff is all recent ret-cons, but isn't too terribly done. Theres a Uranian mini out at the moment, notable for some rather fab reprints of original Marvel Boy comics. At least I think they are original....

AfghanAnt

I don't think they lost the name Marvel Boy, Noh Varr (aka the Protector...urgh) was still being referred to as Marvel Boy just a few months ago. I think Marvel Boy like Marvel Girl are names Marvel loves and hates. They love them when they are attached to characters that generate interest but hate the name when it belongs to a character that is either lost in space or given extremely fugly uniforms.

Also isn't Bob a little to old to be called Marvel Boy and he most certainly can't be Marvel Man.
