no mesh is safe j/k..
there isnt any part you cant take off a mesh
it keeps the original physique
i've added a few pics.. to help

click on the mesh
you want to remove everything from the mesh but the item yo want to keep
then scroll to the NiTriShapeData on the same mesh
open it up youll see a few columns like Vertices, Normals, Triangles, (my Best Friends)
open the triangle and pay attetion to the display screen so you dont remove the wrong triangle..change the numbers to zero on the triangles you dont want..and leave the ones want alone..this will take alot of time.

after you completed your task click on the mesh it self with you right mouse buttom
go to
mesh/ Prune triangles
repeat it again but
go to
mesh/ remove duplicate vertices
save your done

i like mittens they keep my hands warm too  :P (when there not in my wifes pocket)
quite a few of byd older meshes also, some of the old great classics that some people still use.
this does not only work on meshes but objects too.
ive even created my own personal custom vehicles with gloss and reflec
nice to see a nice shiney bike and car strutting down the streets of freedom force with kool ars chacters on or in them and somesweet damges ive done for them too.
i do alot of importing & exporting in obj nifskope also..
and when importing it loses the gloss and reflect
just cut and paiste be done with it..
what it show in skope tutie would take me about 20 to 25 mins.
i figured out how to do it in about 2 mins or less.
i been really busy with home/ work/.. and less time on the computer.. but ill post tutie the week end hopeful
if anyone has a tip to post be my guess.. all im trying to do is help others to get started in skopen.. this could be a skope tutie list of some kind.

I require a "tip of the day"

Many of my old parts are fairly easy to export and reimport into max...

However those that are actually single sided with the "double sided" option selected in max, (so things like a helmet looks like it has an interior when it doesn't) get really screwed up on import. Could you perhaps tell an unwise one if there is a way to turn that off on an object in skope before exporting the object therefore avoiding the prob?

you have the max pluggin for nifkope?
niskope does have a mesh smooth ive used plenty of times to fix what max screwed up. well i dont think it screwed it up just dont read what skope exports properly on import/export..
im at work now but when i get home ill pm you on this.. it can be fixed really

of course I have the .nif import tool... I'm rebuilding my library from scratch...

I'm crazy, megalomaniacal, overbearing, stubborn, and some even say an a@@... but I"m not stupid  :P

Please share that easier gloss/reflect Skope tip when you get a chance...I find it difficult to do.

I used byd's hawkeye mesh for example and male basic effects
this tricks work on any object and obj files also

1. open both windows as shown go to the male basic efftecs

2. on male basic effects you want to go block/copy branch on nitexturingproperty
as shown

3. go back to hawkeye mesh go to main mesh then editable mesh open it
properties open it go to #145 (nitexturingproperty) click right mouse
you are going to block/paiste branch right on it.. as shown
*note the numbers are not always the same on the nitexturingproperty*

4. click the window it self with right mouse botton
then go sanitize/reorder block. X marks the spot..

5. scroll to the very bottom with right mouse botton click on the nitexturingproperty
go to block/remove branch as shown save your done..
you can rename the male_basic.tga  male_basic_reflect.tga male_basic_gloss.tga
to whant ever name you want by double click right on the names..
i did mine to hawkeye.tga hawkeye_reflect.tga hawkeye_gloss.tga

cmdrkoenig67

Thank you, JP...I'll give it a try.
