What does the Titan title mean?

I should probably let one of the Titans themselves answer this, since they'd understand the details better than I do, but basically, the Titans are the group of people who are ultimately responsible for these forums, and who, I believe, are the legal owners of Freedom Reborn (is that right?). Originally, there were 33 of them (they were known as the 33 Titans)- I'm not sure of the exact number now, I think some have left, and I know some "honorary Titans" have been added. They were the people who originally pooled their resources to set up and pay for the Freedom Reborn site.

The word "Titan" comes from the Greek τιτανος, signifying white earth, clay or gypsum, and that the Titans were "white clay men", or men covered by white clay or gypsum dust in their rituals. Other scholars believe the word to be related to the Greek verb τέμνω (to stretch), a view which Hesiod himself appears to share: "But their father Ouranos, who himself begot them, bitterly gave to them to those others, his sons, the name of Titans, the Stretchers, for they stretched out their power outrageously." (Hesiod, Theogony, 207-210)

You are mostly right Alaric. We are ultimately responsible for FR and decisions concerning it's operation...but there weren't 33 of us in the beginning. You know after all this time I don't remember the actual number...my "swiss-cheese" memory sucks...I think it was more 20 or so.

Of course he's not serious. Titan is actually Saturn's sixth ellipsoidal moon. It's Saturn's 20th named moon, and somewhere around the planet's 200-and-somethingth moon of any sort (Saturn has a lot of moons...). Everyone knows that.

Titan is Saturn's largest moon.  Hence why it was named Titan.

FR's Titans named themselves, you'd have to ask one of the originals why that name.  I would guess after the titans of mythology.

IIRC I think it was 5 years ago that everything was falling apart with the original boards so (without going into too much detail) a request was made for Titans to help carry on the community.  Thus, we were formed and there have been additions and subtractions over the years. 

Basically a good group of people who are just comicbook nerds like the rest.

There used to be a site telling the story and history of the Titans here.  Pretty much when the original Freedom Force forums were going down, a bunch of us got together and stated Freedom Reborn.  I guess we would be like the share holders of the forums or at least the back bone of the forums.
