Burn Out Poccession

I was wondering how I could go about creating a power, that possesses a target and does weaken or low mental damage.  Guardian Angels possession power often leaves the target unconscious if it is a "regular thug" or D-list villain.  Any ideas?

Could there be some way to detect if the target breaks the possession, then do direct damage to them?
