Hello all, it's been awhile,

I recently uninstalled  :ffvstr: and have now installed  :ff: since I always preferred the first game.
I installed everything in the order recommended at Alex's Freedom Fortress and everything seems to be working fine, except for one thing. At the end of a danger room mission the game crashes and I'm left looking at my desktop wallpaper.
I'm not sure if this was a common problem or not or even if there's a fix for it. I've got all the XP service pack updates and ran patches 1.2 and 1.3. Can anyone shed some light?

My recollection is that this popped up with the 1.3 patch and I don't think there was a fix for it, except to avoid going from the DR to the main menu. I think you could play the DR many times without trouble, but leaving it would sometimes/usually cause the game to quit.

Back to  :ffvstr: then I guess, ahh well, never mind.
Cheers Stumpy, it's been awhile eh?

Ha, yes it has. Glad to see you here again.

I haven't tested if that Danger Room issue persists under Windows Vista or with the Steam version of the game.

BTW, it's too bad about the DR bug with the 1.3 patch. In another thread, I was reminded that my favorite DR scenario was in the original game with my Superboy (Kal-El) character versus all of the Freedom Force heroes, even with me playing Kal versus the computer, his chances were 50-50 at best. :D It was huge fun and it's just not the same in FFvT3R since the lack of knockback for thrown objects steals a lot of the flavor from the matchup.

Yeah that's just one of the reasons I reinstalled  :ff:
I remembered how cool the knock backs were. Progress for you. Not always a good thing, I'm sure you'll agree
