opening a .dat

Can someone please remind me on how to open up at .dat file.
I have done it before and extracted Nuclear Winters music theme but I can't seem to remember how.
I want to gain access to the in game character meshes and keyframes.... help!!!!
Icicle and Javelin.<br />Icicle: So.. Javelins.. Isn't that like Captain Boomerang except you have to pick them up when you are done?<br />Javelin: So.. Ice-powers.. Isn't that like Captain Cold execept nobody gives a crap about you?

You don't open the .dat files, you open the .ff files by changing them to zip and extracting. Make sure to make backups.
