A no-prize to the first person who recognizes the reference.  Howdy guys, I'm working on a few small projects, and I have decided that I should probably man up and develop some type of way to present them in the vast wasteland of the internet.  Looking at Prev's excellent FRP, I was thinking that some type of blog might be a good way to do that.  Can y'all give me some advice on what program would be best for someone with no experience creating things online?  Is there anything that has a really friendly user interface and doesn't rely on coding of some type?  Thanks for any help!

If you gonna issue a challenge to get a reference, at least make is challenging one Obi wa..... er Benton.... sheesh.

As for the software. In my experience, Wordpress is going to be the easiest to just install and go for people who don't want to deal with the nuts and bolts of development... It will also depend on whether you want to set it up and host it yourself (costs money, but gives you more freedom) or use some third party service like blogger (free but limiting somewhat). Most hosting places have automatic installations of some kind for most of the big name open source applications, so even installing shouldn't be an issue.

Ha, that's right Goggles!  I'll be sure to make my next one more obscure. ;)  I definitely want free at the moment.  I suppose all I really want is to be able to have a spot where I can have specific posts available on the front page so people can go right to a post with a link and description of my individual mods.

Wordpress.com is definitely "one" of the ways to go for someone who is new to the game, wants to do something quickly, and wants a lot of flexibility without knowing how to code a lick. Wordpress, in general, is very open and offers quite the pick of plugins and themes that'll allow you to do further customizations that'll fit your tastes. It also doesn't require you to provide your own hosting space (which is the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org, if you were wondering). If you want some examples of how flexible the .com version actually is in regards to some of the FR members that use the service, just mozy on over to Afghan Ant's (parental warning) and Ultimate Evil's spots. Also, I'm fairly sure the Herofoce blog is also built on wordpress.

*wonders if he and FRP started a trend.*

What a great job!    While I haven't been actively interested in FF in years, your site really blew me away.

Thanks AS, that's high praise!  Maybe we'll convince you to come back to the fold, hmm? ^_^  I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope that you'll continue to find things to interest you in my ramblings.
