EZScript Script-Off!

Howdy guys, and welcome to Freedom Reborn?s first, but hopefully not last, EZScript competition!  I?ve been a big proponent of M25?s nearly miraculous scripting tool, and have only been able to create mods for Freedom Force thanks to him.  I?ve said many times that EZScript is extremely easy to use, and have shown that you can actually create an adventure in about five minutes, provided you aren?t trying to be too fancy.  I want to call on the FF community, especially those who have never attempted modding before, to take a crack at creating a short mission.

We all have a favorite character, or a favorite group of characters, and as likely as not, your particular favorite hasn?t received quite as much attention as you think they deserve.  Now?s your chance to tell a story all your own.  Anyone who wants to participate should choose their favorite character, or handful of characters, and write a simple one mission script for them.  If you want to tell a story about Thor, then do it!  If you want to see an adventure starring the Blue Beetle, create it!  Any character or setting is fair game, and most already likely have some assets available for them.  Take advantage of the vast amounts of content available for this game, because we are lucky enough to still be playing it when even some of the most obscure characters have been skinned, meshed, or skoped.  You don?t need to create a whole mod, just a simple rumble room mission, although you are welcome to do more if you feel so inclined.  I also encourage you to simply use maps that are already EZScript enabled, but if you want to create or modify a map, then feel free to do that as well.

Just to show Benton's point:
I just discovered FF months ago and I have zero programing skills. But using EZScript I already done a dozen of stories and one mod. ANYONE can script a story for   using EZScript.
I did a very simple Superman EZScript today, the only custom character is Supes himself, just used FF's cops, civilians and aliens. Is that easy.
Come on, guys, let's do it!

Awesome YL!  Time is something of a point of this, so just take 10 minutes one day before the 30th, and whip something simple up.

I've always wanted to do a series of X-men scripts where I would base each off an arc in the comics starting from issue one but I got into the skoping/skinning side... I probably won't enter this one but I'm going to be getting some tips from this.

There's no better time than the present, Area!  Just throw together a simplified version of one of those stories you liked, and you'll have a grasp on how to begin when you decide you want to tackle your dream project.  Trust me, anybody can find the time.

We're coming down to what I had hoped would be the end of registartions, but we still have few participants.  Come on guys, be bold, try something new!  Share your own stories, or perhaps a favorite story with the community!  Registration will "end" Sunday, but if you'd like to participate, you're welcome to jump in at any time.  I'd like to have all submissions in by NEXT Sunday, so that gives you over a week to throw something together.  I hope to see something from a lot more of our regular members.

Awesome YL!  I forgot that I hadn't responded to this here, as well as in PM's.  Okay folks, while sign-ups were supposed to close yesterday, we'll just forget about that.  Just have your submission in by the end of the week.  I'll pick a winner at the beginning of next week.

I've had a few more people tell me that they were interested, so hopefully we'll see a few more sumbissions before the end.  The deadline for submissions was Sunday, but I'm actually going out of town this weekend, so I'm extending it to next Wed.  If you've been waffling about wether or not to contribute, here's your chance!

Since it's a contest, I don't think it would be kosher for me to accept outside help...especially from the judge!  But after the contest is over, maybe I'll put it up so someone can spot the (no doubt) minor and completely obvious error that is screwing things up.

Well, the purpose of the contest is to encourage the use and growth of EZScript, so I doubt anyone would mind someone proofreading your work, as long as they didn't write the mission for you.
