More descriptive title next time, UE. Some vet you are. :P

Marvel has made a post about it here: http://marvel.com/news/vgstories.12122.first_look~colon~_marvel_vs~dot~_capcom_3

QuoteRevealed last week in Hawaii at Capcom's annual, super-exclusive and semi-secret Captivate event, "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds" pits roughly 30 characters from across the Marvel and Capcom universes in the most epic fighting game of all time. Building upon the foundation laid by the previous Marvel/Capcom games, "MvC3" features a fighting system that takes elements from those previous titles as well as Capcom's recent brawler "Tatsunoko vs. Capcom." Additionally, the series makes the jump into 3D with graphics similar in style to those seen in "Street Fighter IV," though with a more striking comic book feel.

The diverse roster of characters and locations has not been fully revealed yet, but the initial list of playable fighters includes Wolverine, Hulk and Iron Man from the Marvel side, plus Ryu, Morrigan and Chris Redfield from team Capcom. Producer Ryota Niitsuma and Capcom are working feverishly to get as many characters into the game and plan to have roughly 30 in the game when it smashes onto consoles next year. With 10 years between titles, new characters have come to the fore for both Marvel and Capcom, so expect the roster to include brawlers both classic and brand new to the series.

I'm excited to see which new heroes will be in the game. I'm hoping for some of the newer gen heroes.... Characters like Gravity, Patriot, Wiccan, and what have you.

And we know a few will be out, like Marrow.

I wonder if they might do something really screwball like putting the Vampire version of Jubilee in the game.

Next gen. The trailer actually features models very close to the actual in game models according to some Marvel workers + Capcom developers.

Amazing - though I prefer MvC2's classic graphics, as long as the Darkstalkers and a ton of X-people are in it, I'll be buying it.

Here's some more info.

- Will feature 3-on-3 tag team fighting and over 30 characters.
- It will be a disc-based release.
- It will be released Spring 2011 on the PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360.
- Currently there are no plans for an arcade, computer or Wii version of the title.
- Runs on an "advanced version" of MT Framework, the same engine that powers the graphics of Lost Planet 2 & Resident Evil 5.
- Confirmed characters so far: Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm, Ryu, Morrigan, & Chris Redfield.
- It will be a 2D fighter in terms of gameplay, but will look like a cross between MVC2 & SF4.
- Will have an eclectic and robust mix of music, with at least 100 pieces including remixes of favorites from previous Marvel Vs. Capcom games as well as some new music.
- High definition graphics up to 1080p.
- There will be unlockables and possible DLC.
- Unlike previous Marvel Vs. Capcom games, this latest iteration will have a strong storyline.
- MVC3 will be playable at this year's E3 which is held on June 15 - 17th.

And one last thing; earlier reports were that there was to be 'a staggering amount of characters'. Take both that into account, as well as that there will be over 30 characters, unlockables, and even possible DLC, and...well, I think you get the idea. ;)

EDIT: Here's the promo poster.

Of the characters in silhouettes, I see Chun-Li, Deadpool, Felicia from DS, Captain America, and Dante from DMC. I can't make out anyone else.

Possibly, but I figured he was just a stock-villain. Am I wrong?

yeah, I saw the XBOX360 and PS3 listed and was like... what the hell? PC gets no love.. SF3 kicked arse when I was playing my copy. All I got is my PS2 and my Wii.. so kinda leaves me out in the cold. O.o

From the poster it looks like Deadpool is in it and either Night Crawler or Felicia is in the game as well.  I hope it's both of them.

Lucky guy, from what I've heard you're in the minority.

Both systems seem to have lots of problems actually - it's too much heat in too little a space.

Looking forward to this though, even though I suck at fighting games.

electro

Both systems are $300 - Are you serious that you think that's expensive? -As a gamer you should be jummping with joy at that price tag - As for failures that happens with any electronic - It's all a roll of the dice - If you spent alot of money on your comp then I understand the frustration on not having certain games but, thats why the consoles are not that expensive because they have exclusive games that can push the machines - I personally like the Xbox because I enjoy USA & European games more that Japanese games so I want my money flowing there but, both systems are great & worth the money - Sorry to get off topic but I am trying to sell you on going next gen - If more people buy consoles then well keep getting cool suprises like MvC 3

TheMarvell

read my rant about the 360 on here. There's no way the PS3 has even remotely the same failure rate as the 360. Granted, now is the best time to buy one if you're ever going to, but it's completely unacceptable that it took Microsoft this long to fix the failboxes problems (allegedly). Ok, done griping about the 360 now (can't help it after having FOUR die on me in less than 2 years)

back on topic, it's good to see this announced. Hopefully it meets fan expectations.

Kinda sorta... the computer was cash and it took me some fighting to save it up, still need to update the video card in it (although my 3 or 4 y/o is holding up well) and it runs games better than consoles. I would get one but the prob is even if you get one you are still getting only half the games you dont see on PC and it is hard to justify to my g.f.

Still it would be a PS3 since a lot of x-box games come out on PC. Or a wii, she loves it, not that it would do me much good.

Going back to MVC I really hope to see those extra characters come out. You would be shocked in this jaded day and age how quickly 30 feels like just a handful.

JeyNyce

Guys, I love the conversation here, but lets keep it on topic.  We have a topic already about consoles  Thanks!
