Hey guys, just out of curiosity, is I am using Nifskope to change the mapping for a mesh's extra pieces (moving the location of the piece) in order to get everything on one tga file, is there also a way to change the size/shape of the pieces map? For example, if I am trying to move a belt's map to make it fit, can I shrink it as well? Thanks in advance for any advice you throw my way.

You'll have to edit the UV manually.

Thanks AA, unfortunately, all I've been able to figure out so far is how to move the piece on the map, resizing and rotating, if possible, still elude me.

To resize, you need to actually edit each point on the uv for the meshed piece. As for rotating, I haven't seen that happen but if I figure it out, I'll be sure to let you know.

I've tried everything I know possible in Nifskope to rotate and haven't found a way either.  I think that has to be done in 3d Max unhappily.

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can figure this out now.  :D

I've got another mapping related question. I've moved the mapping of an extra to another part of the tga, but the reflection (perhaps the glow as well) stayed where it was originally. How do I reposition the reflection?

When you've got the "Edit UV" window open, right-click on it. One of the menu options will be "Select texture slot", which will allow you to switch the view to the Gloss (aka Refl) or Glow textures, so you can change the mapping on those as well.

Ah I see, thanks! I'll try that as soon as I get a chance.

EDIT:
Thanks JK, that worked perfectly.

how i remapped a few things id export the object i was going to remap to obj with nifskope.. then use a prog called 3d uv mapper its user friendly and free.. import to uv mapper, and it give you so many ways to map, edit, cut off items you no longer want, also merges items to make one whole piece.. pretty neat prog it works with 3ds. obj. and a few others i cant remember now its been awhile.. i give it a thumbs up.. with nifskope and uv mapper you can do wonders..the last skope i used uv mapper on was the prof. x , with the updated wheelchair..that AA skined a few months back.. so you get the idea what it does..just saying if anyone interested..

Kenn

I assume this means that after you do the UVmapper thing you can bring it back to NifSkope and back to a NIF?

Hey JP, good to hear from you. Is this the program you were talking about?

Johnny Patches

How do I export a mesh piece from Nif format to Obj format?

Amazo Version 2.2

good question, i tried doing a search in the forums but didnt nothing popped up. though i could have worded my search wrong, happens alot.
For anyone, and everyone, who has ever done anything to improve the FF/FFvs3R gaming experience, I want to say thank you. Life is so short, and you have all brought me so much joy. I hope that one day, I am somehow able to return the kindness and generosity that all of you have shown.

in my nifskope there is only the .obj format. when you click on a piece and export, it goes to .obj.

daglob

Only the newer version of Nifscope can export to .obj. Also, I have never gotten a VX mesh to export. I ended up using a Irrational mesh instead, since they mapped the body parts the same.

If I have two meshes that I am trying to put together, and recieve an error message stating that they are different NIF versions, is there a workaround that will let me paste one to the other?

Run the ff one through a nifconverter?

daglob

Also: run the originals through the same converter. I had some problems with that.

Cyber Burn

I feel so  :banghead:. I thought I had already run the first mesh through. Thanks guys.

Cyber Burn

Hey guys, I tried to adjust a mesh's height with Nifskope, and now the mesh keeps crashing my Character Tool 2. Any suggestions on what might have happened?

PS: I tried changing Tommyboy's Comedian_tf mesh through the Handle node by changing the scale from 1 to 0.9349, I wanted to shrink the mesh to more of a teen size.

Cyber Burn

Nevermind, the skope was broken before I changed the size.
