Hope this doesn't constitute spam, but this was posted to my Facebook page.

FYI - There's a site called spokeo.com that's an online USA phone book w/personal information: everything from pics you've posted on FB or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age. Remove yourself by searching your name, find the URL of your page, then go to the bottom right corner of the page and click on the Privacy button to remove yourself.

I went to the page and found all sorts of info on me, you guys may want to check this out.

It has my old home address and little information beyond that. It is good to be an immigrant sometimes.

There are several sites like that around, which is why I'm very careful about how much info I let out at any time despite *some* people telling me I'm too private. The problem (?) with sites like that, however, is that the majority of the info is inaccurate and/or out of date. To some degree, it's not a huge thing to worry about, but it should let you know that any info you put out there on the internet, whether on a private page or not, can be collected by any and all.

I don't know that it's worth asking spokeo to remove information, since what they have is just the same stuff available via google and other sites that index publicly available information. Their request removal form is at this page, if anyone wants to bother.

After seeing old info for me and my gf, for laughs I searched for Lisa Simpson in Springfield, IL (yeah, I know there are many Springfields) and the result that turned up happens to be someone who lives on an Evergreen Ct. And, of course, there is a listing for Homer Simpson at 742 Evergreen Terrace.

as far as removing information, my wife and i were both on there twice, and you could only have two removals from the site per e-mail address.
