Holiday request for a friend's ex-roommate

First of all, Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you choose to celebrate.  And now...

A few weeks ago, shortly before my birthday, I was informed by my good friend Valerie Gentile about her now ex-roommate Erin Patrick.  Earlier this year, Erin was diagnosed with cancer and had treatment over the summer to have it removed.   Everything seemed to be a success and she made a full recovery.

She learned the first week of December that they may not have gotten all the cancer.  On her 27th birthday, which is five days after mine, she got the news that they had not in fact gotten it all and they two options.  She is opting for surgery on January 3rd, 2012, to have it removed.
