Hey guys, despite protests that I didn't need one (and I really don't) I got a Kindle Fire, and I was hoping the collective wisdom here at FR could help answer a few questions for me.  First off, is there any way to read .cbr files on this thing?  I've got a number of comics digitized in that format, and that is a decent part of what I'd be using it for, if I'm able.  Second, I've got several of the Marvel comics on CD sets, and they're all in PDF format.  Would I be able to copy those over onto this thing.  I'm trying to decide if I'd get any use out of it before I open it up and play with it, so I'm hoping y'all will be able to give me some insight.

Thanks guys!
God Bless

Keep in mind that the Fire is a modified android tablet, so you can get apps to add stuff.  I'm not familar enough with it or Android to say for certain, but there may be an ap to read .cbr files.  Quick search tells me that their are actually several to choose from in the Android market place and my be some in the Amazon app store as well.  It also has built in pdf support.  between those two, you should be able to enjoy your comics.

I'd be a little surprised if someone hasn't made an applet for that. CBR files are just image files that have been archived in the RAR system. RAR is an open spec with many support libraries, so it would be easy to make a reader.

Sorry, cat. I wasn't ignoring your post, I was just trying to comment that CBR files are so simple that it would be more surprising if there weren't a reader for them.

Kindle handles pdf files natively and I know for sure that comicrack.cyolito.com/ has released an android compatible version.  I haven't tried it, but I have tried Kindle's pdf capability and that works well.

Well, I'm sorry.  It seems I'm the one not reading your post carefully.  Sorry.

If you have access to the Android Market, Perfect Viewer works really well for CBR and CBZ files, or ZIP and RARs for that matter.
