After a discussion with danz on my tumblr account, (in which I defended the fact that despite some disappointments from Mattel this year, there are still PLENTY of figure collectors out there) it occurred to me that I'd never really discussed the hobby on FR before... And outside of Hitman and TUE, I don't really know of any other collectors on the boards at all.

So... who else here collects toys, and which lines are your favorites?

(and yes, before anyone brings it up, I do remember reading the other custom figure threads in Artists Alley. However, it IS possible to enjoy customizing figures without collecting them, so I'm not going to make rash assumptions.)

Cyber Burn

Wish I could say otherwise, but I haven't collected in years.  :(

I used to collect the old Marvel Legends, have a nice collection. Kinda doubt I'll ever collect again save an odd figure here or there. The Marvel Universe line has tempted me though, really cool collection of characters there.

EDIT: Meant Marvel Universe line.

bat1987

I collect DC Direct (now renamed to DC collectibles) Batman friends and foes. I got decent number of different characters so far,and I plan on getting Damian as Robin and new 52 Batman.

Xenolith

I buy the EagleMoss lead statues, but I don't know if they qualify as toys or not.  I've never been interested in action figures.  I probably have 30 or so.

The Hitman

Yeah, I collect the DC Classics. Between The Ladyfriend and I, we have about 85 - 90% of the run. I also collect those LEGO blindbag minifigs, and currently am teaching myself how to repair vintage toys, starting with my G1 Soundwave fig.

Also, I collect any official representation of DC's Ambush Bug. I'm looking at a Minimate, a Heroclix, an Eaglemoss statue, and an obscure cut-out trading card right now. Don't know if I want to shell out the cash for a custom, though.

I'm kinda jealous actually... I seem to come into the bigger comic lines (Marvel Legends, DCUC, and Marvel Universe) really really late and try to go back and get all the characters I want later on, and I have no one to blame for that but myself. About the only lines I can honestly say that about are the Jazwares 3" Sonic line (I have every unique character, plus a few obvious variants like the Supers and Classic ones... eff the Werehog, Black Knight, and Riders variants though), the GL Classics sub-line (still have to get one more to complete Arkillo), and the YJ 4" line (I even have the SDCC Superboy in cloning chamber, which is all kinds of cool).

I have more superhero toys than I know what to do with dating back to the Old Super Powers line and beyond.  I try not to buy more but when confronted with a pretty Silver Age specimen I have no willpower.  I will buy anything with Bat-Mite on it.  I would pay ridiculous prices for a good Fly and Fly Girl, and I hope I never find out what I would do to obtain a nice Zook hugging the Martian Manhunter!  So you are not alone.
DCUO Toons: The Fly, Venusian Voyager, Eagle Woman, Congorella, Flying Fortress, and 12 others!

I like the idea of action figures. Also I live in an apartment. That means I dont collect anything, anymore. No figures, no dvd's, no cd's, nothing. Thankfully we mostly get together at a friends place so I keep my boardgames and such at his place.

Deaths Jester

Does collecting the parts of strange passerbys count?  (Not I actually  do that but thought I'd ask if I decided to start.)
Avatar picture originally a Brom painting entitled Marionette.

I assume you already know about the GA Batman+ Bat-mite exclusive, but as far as Zook goes...

I don't think you're alone there  ;)

That's actually what pushed me to finally start getting the Marvel Universe figures over the ML ones... living in a cramped Military dorm, I only had so much space to keep figures, and I came to appreciate the fact that I could cram more MU figures into the same space for bigger collections

Duh, Tomato... :D

I've collected a lot of older lines of action figures and toys...Like the Micronauts, LJN Dungeons & Dragons figures, and Monster Force figures.  I also sometimes collect Universal Monsters figures, I have a few Mego-ish 8 inch Space:1999 figures (from Figures Toy Company) and sometimes I collect Godzilla figures.

Most modern action figures hold no interest for me.

Wow....Tomato you really took my comments to seriously and harshly. Damn! Tom i did n`t mean that in a bad way bro i was just trying to say that the fact remains that the new and upcoming  series of action figures are quite simply trash not to us but to the old school people. For instance i totally agree with Dana for having no interest in the Modern range of action figures.

If compared to the old range of action figures they have totally lost their uniqueness and genuine nature and several people below and above the age of 18 - 20 just collect them for simply collectibles and nothing else. And perhaps the only ones who are attracted by the new range are just children above and below the age of 13 -15 just collect them to play with.

In fact, just to increase buy rate the major comic book related merchandise companies and others are just constantly reproducing the same old thing with a few modifications again and again and that does n`t actually please the old school comic book fans and the companies just to fill their fat pockets they just keep on coming for more cash and continue with crappy overproduced merchandise which is totally humiliation and Injustice for the Major comic book companies and their respective major characters such as DC and Marvel.

Wish Jack Kirby and his fellow associates were still alive they would surely turn all of this around and perhaps improve the current standard to even greater extent and Damn! If a basic or average comic book fan does n`t know the greatest comic artist of all time 'Jack Kirby', is truly a total pathetic and idiotic wanna be fan. Kirby should have been the only single person on this planet to have been given credit for giving purpose to Superman `s existence as he created one of the most compatibly strong and powerful characters in comparison to Supes , the ultimate villain 'Darkseid' giving a new meaning to the fact 'that Supes just got his arse handed to him' and thats what one does n`t hear everyday, And then there is another one of his great contribution Captain America (The First Avenger) and what would ultimately result in the creation of the Avengers, but the list goes on which also includes his notable works such as the Hulk and Fantastic Four as well as X-Men and would it have hurt Marvel if they would have allowed Kirby to have control over other major fields such as Merchandise and Action Figures, the guy is a total and ultimate Genius in fact funny i said that because in Marvel Comics He (and Stan Lee) are an ultimate and perhaps the only powerful character which is referred to as the 'One Above All' . And you got to be kidding me if you don`t agree with me on this one.

But then there is difference in everyone `s opinions  so well that pretty makes up as well as clears every part of my explanation with respect to my comment more elaborate. And though i have no conflict with any one `s ideas and opinions and even if i have one i will only consider it as a good sense of correction and rectification to my previous comments and even this one. So please don`t hesitate in replying back with any comment in any sort of way . Thank you very much for reading.

I started collecting Figmas, but really I only have 5 so I wouldn't call it a collection per se, but at an average cost of $40 it feels like a collection. I don't have photos to post since they are in storage. Well I have one photo, but it was when I only had the one.

Spoiler

Yuki Nagato plus a Luka Megurine Nedoroid and three Clamp figurines (Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicles, Sumomo and Kotoko from Chobits, and Hanato Kobato with Ioryogi)

The Figmas I have are Yuki Nagato, Flame Haired Shana, Asuza Nakano, Luka Megurine, Miku Hatsune Append.

BWPS

I have some Marvel Legends somewhere. I didn't keep track of them but I did really like them. Such a cool toy line, and they pretty much always made it to the clearance section of Wal-Mart so they were cheap. I don't think getting back into collecting them will be smart, but hopefully I can find them all before the baby gets to be figure-aged.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

I don't collect toys. If I did I would surely open the boxes and play with them.

Shogun Warriors fist rocket to the head for someone!

I've never understood in-box collectors. At that point, you're not buying toys because they're toys, you're buying them because they might be worth money. Same with people who buy comics and never red them... at least people who buy two and open one I can respect, y'know?

Shaboba

I really, REALLY like Todd MacFarlane action figures. And rare/classic ones like the original Power Rangers series and stuff. But I haven't seen any that I like in a long time.

Cyber Burn

I will say that even though I haven't really "collected" anything in years, I do own some of the Superhero Squad figures (Mostly Captain America variants), and yes, they are unpackaged.
