Howdy.  Just installed FFvTR, played it a bit, decided I wanted to add mods.  Tried that, couldn't get it to work.  So I uninstalled, now I can't reinstall the basic game to work.  I had tried to add the FFX3, then I had tried to add Crisis v1.  Is there a residue left behind that uninstallation doesn't clean?  Really need some help here!

I'm not familiar with uninstallation issues, but it will help any others reading the thread if you let us know which version of the game you are installing (from CD, Steam, etc.), which version of Windows you are running and what exact error shows up and at which point in the process it appears.

To the general question, I am not sure how thorough FF's uninstaller is, but you a start might be to open the Windows registry and use its search tool to find "Freedom Force" and that will give you an idea if there are parts left to clean up.

I have Windows 7, used a CD for installation (Steam can burn in Hell).  I need to know what files in the registry hang around and screw crap up, or if FFX3 leaves stuff behind as well.  BTW, I just realized I have never gotten to the registry in Windows 7!

If you open regedit (use the Start button, click on Run... and enter regedit at the prompt), you can use it to search for "FFVTTR" and see what comes up. Actually, you can search for "Irrational Games" and probably get more at one shot. Obviously, back up your registry and/or use one of the Windows tools to make a restore point before making any changes to the registry. But, any trees that search turns up can probably be removed to tidy up an uninstall.

Meanwhile, I don't know that FFX makes any changes to the registry. Probably, if the FFX files are gone, the mod is gone, too. To be honest, I don't know that anything in FFX could mess up an installation, though.

Thanks!  I will try this out.  Appreciate the help!

Weird issue.

The FFX installer does add an entry in the registry. It should not have any incidence on the game or anything, however: It only adds basic info under SOFTWARE\FFX Team\. (You can check the ffx3setup.iss source file in Notepad.)
