Would you be interested in or willing to contribute to a small-ish FF Golden Age Mod?

That sounds really neat!  I want to play it!

Hello forum-goers and friends.  I've been working on various projects lately, and something occurred to me that I thought I'd run by y'all.  While putting together PCTales I had several ideas for flashback missions with the FF2 Golden Age characters, and even a few new faces, but I never really found narrative space for these stories.  I think it might be fun to eventually do a small, five mission or so, mod set in the Golden Age of the Freedom Force universe.  We could follow some of the early adventures of Black Jack, Tricolour, and Sky King, and perhaps add a few new heroes along the way.  I might explore a range of stories, before, during, and perhaps even after the War.  We could see them fight saboteurs and third columnists on the homefront, discover lost civilizations, and stop Nazi doomsday weapons...you know, all the classic features of pulp and Golden Age stories!

If I were going to do this, I'd really love to include some new Golden Age characters.  I've got one of my own that I'd need to see skinned/skoped, but I'd also love for the community to contribute a few.  So, the question I put to y'all is this: Would anyone be interested in playing such a mod in the first place, and, if so, would anyone be interested in contributing a Golden Age character concept/skin/skope?

I should clarify, this would fall into line behind my more immediate projects, like Marvel Adventures (for which my testers are still testing), and such.

Haha, why do folks never post on a poll, only vote?  It drives me nuts not knowing who voted for what! :D

Can I vote twice? I think this is a good idea, sounds interesting, and if someone is willing to skin, I would be willing to try to help with a skope or two.

That said, get back to work on Marvel Adventures!  :P

Well, since I'm lagging behind on play testing your Marvel Mod, I can't really hound you to get back to work. I voted to help out with skopes, skins, and such.

Okay, Benton, we may revisit the Golden Age, I believe you and I grew up during the Bronze Age (1970-1985?), so does that make the current age of comics the Dark Age(s)? I would have to say I agree with that. It would take a renaissance to fix all of this nonsense nowadays.

Haha, I like the metaphor!  To stick with the original one, I suppose this is the Iron Age, or, perhaps, the Age of Clay...that seems almost more appropriate to me.  A time of crumbling, malleable structures that bear no weight, yeah, that seems about right.

Thanks guys!  I appreciate the enthusiasm!  :D

I'd be willing to contribute some skopes.
And really if you are looking for a metaphor for the current age of comics...might I suggest tue Mercury Age.
There is no single defining structure in which you could rest the concept of the age upon, and it quickly fills gaps to appeal to a wide variety of people (although some people may find the stories diluted)
Comics these days are quickly distributed and some may say you go crazy if you consume too much.

Hmmm... looking at my Yahoo Groups, what do you think my answer would be?

And how is the pulp mod comming?

and TMNT?

BentonGrey

Good point DM, but like any age, this one will gain cohesion and unity in retrospect.  All periods, movements, and ages were diverse and contained contradictory elements.  We generalize when we discuss them because it's the only effective way to do so.

Haha, of course Daglob, I thought you'd have such a response!

Well, they are both going fine...last I checked.  They are both sitting on my hard drive in various states of completion.  One of these days when I have free time again I'll start work on them once more.
