Rumble Room Loading Problems

Hey, can I get a quick hand?

I've recently downloaded VPMAX in FF3.3.  It took some figuring out, but I had to merge DAT in FFEdit.  However since doing that, I'm having trouble loading the Rumble Room.  I can select characters and maps, but when trying to load the actual game it never does.  The loading screen will come on and game will crash(not to the desktop).

I had a similar problem years ago that came about because using FFEdit created a file that prevented the game from loading.  I'm not sure if that is the case, but if it is, I cannot remember what the file is or even if this is actually the cause of the crash.

Anyone able to help?

I think that kind of loading problem in the Rumble Room is due to your hero files/characters not being recognized. Remember this is FFX we are talking about. Everytime you change or edit something in your herofiles/characters (like for example what voice you want them to use), you will need to exit the game after doing so. Run FFX 3 Control Centre (ffxedit2) to load all custom characters and get them properly "branded" so the game will recognize them when it runs. Then try running the game thru FFX 3.3 again and try the Rumble Room once more. The loading screen should not stall/hang this time.

Oh, and with regards to merging dats. I think it isn't necessary.* Copying the character.dat and object.dat files included in VPMax and overwriting the character.dat and object.dat files of your ffx3 folder seems to work as well. Of course, this is assuming you've just installed ffx3.3 and haven't added much of anything yet.

*Unless you have other custom voicepacks or maybe custom herofiles? installed? Then i think you may need to merge the dats to avoid losing them.

Haven't got much experience with this yet so i could be wrong.

Yeah, I figured on FFxedit(which I only thought prevented attributes from working, but didn't prevent the game from loading).  But I tried it and it didn't change.

I suppose you wouldn't know about the file FFEdit creates when it's initally used do you?

Sorry to hear that your rumble room still isn't working man. It's possible that i may have gave you some wrong information on how to install VPMax in FFX3.3. Sorry about that. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable in the matter could help clarify things?

Yeah, don't know about any file being created by FFEdit when it's initially used either. But if you're talking about FF1. I remember that clicking on the campaign tab on FFEdit automatically generates a campdef.dat file that would cause some errors loading the game. Like in this thread...http://freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=54812.msg740547#msg740547

But since i know you're using FFX3.3 that would not be the file you're looking for.

Found another thread with rumble room problems though..http://freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=55720.0

I'll try to do some more digging and tests...but if there's someone out there...who could help...so much the better.

It would figure that I didn't finish downloading each individual pack.  Smh.

Sorry about that. Thank though OC(again).  I thought I could test the voices that I had at that point.

I see. That's a relief. I'm glad you were able to get things working again then. :)
