And so another nerd finally leaves his parent's basement.

So for those of you who were wondering about the whole apartment search thing... Well, I have an apartment now. I've actually been moved in for a few weeks now, but I was trying to avoid posting anything here after the fiasco that was my last thread.

Anyway, when I say "moved in," you all need to understand something... I put in a week of time off a month ago to move into this apartment, only to have the rent agency change the move in date to the for the week after (new carpet taking longer or something). And since I work full time, that basically means the first week involved me and my dad shoving furniture in the door and I've spent every day off I've had either recovering (my boss has me flipping between 1-9PMs, 3-11PMs, and 11-7AMs), doing schoolwork, or moving more of my stuff over.

Right now, I have about 5 hangers (unused ones I could quickly grab between dealing with my 2 year old foster brother every time I run home), most of my stuff is still in boxes, and the contents of my fridge include the remains of a pizza delivery and a few half-empty 12 packs of soda. I have plans for a custom bookcase I have yet to begin building, and clothes sitting in a laundry basket because I have nothing to hang them up with yet. I'm so stressed out right now, I've even started having nightmares... mostly because my boss is an idiot who seems bound and determined to bring a lawsuit down on the hospital, herself, and every one of her employees crazy enough to push around her stupid little fu...

*deep breath*

But I'm getting off topic. Like I said, I've moved into an apartment. I've still got a lot of work ahead of me before this place gets shaped to where i want it, but y'know...

All things considered, I think I'll be ok.

Of course you will.  Best of luck zoomie.   :)

Sending well wishes your way.

Understand the frustration... but you might want to edit the idiot part out... you never know who will turn up what on the Internet.

Putting aside the fact that I don't have enough personal information online for her to find my facebook page, let alone find this forum (I specifically avoid using the name of our hospital as well), my boss isn't computer literate. She called tech support to fix a computer because she couldn't figure out how to get it out of bios mode.

How'd she manage to get it into BIOS in the first place?  That isn't something that generally just happens.
I am the cat that walks by himself, all ways are alike to me.

I'd guess she was restarting it for some reason and accidentally hit whatever F# key put it into bios mode. Sad thing is, this wasn't her computer... it was this the main computer for the outpatient section. She put in the tech support call friday before the weekend (meaning tech support wouldn't have even looked at it until monday), and that computer was still sitting there, in BIOS mode, when I came in at 11pm on Saturday.

Long story short, I came in, saw what'd happened, and hit ESC. Computer worked fine.

Probably hit the wrong key by mistake while it was booting.

Hey 'Mato, sorry to hear about all of the craziness and frustrations, but at least you've got your own place, in need of furnishing though it might be.  What a great collection of Reborners!

I think that's kinda cool. Finally having your own place. I guess it would feel liberating and challenging at the same time. Congratulations and best of luck with the new place. That Freedom Reborn collection is a nice start to feel at home. :)

One of the first things I did was get to know a bunch of product designers at my uni. Half the stuff in my place I made myself in our workshop. Its pretty cheap, but I had a ton of fun doing it.

You should try and see if there are any big DIY buffs in your area. Folks who can share that kind of knowledge are the best, especially if they have some woodworking malarky handy.

I'm making a pretty big move over to Canterbury at the end of the year to study a masters. Kind of a shame I'll have to leave all my furniture behind, but quite excited to have another go at custom furniture. Thinking I might gander over some steampunk designs online.

Failing that, Ikea.

*shrug* I don't think I need to go that far... particularly when circumstances might change in the next year or so (something happened that I don't want to get my hopes up for, but if it happens I may not need an apartment after my lease ends). I basically want a place to crash and to watch Sherlock with my semi-girlfriend on the miracle chance we both are off work.

I AM however, going out today to look at wood for a custom bookshelf today... like, as soon as I save a copy of the plans to my thumb drive. 'scuse me
