making limbs dissapear

I have created a simple skope with a robe I want moved from a female to male model. It moves correctly, but the legs show through the dress. I want to make his thighs and lower leg dissapear, but retain his feet.

I tried the obvious route of setting the hidden flag. Doesn't actually do anything.

I tried resizing the part, intending to set it to .0001 size, but that distorts the dress, which is apparently attached to legs.

I'm not very good with alpha's and have seen inconsistent results in FF1 using them.

Any other suggestions?

i believe there was a vxMonk mesh at one time, a male with a skirt and kungfu like keyframes....

Thanks for the reply! I have that mesh and other wizard_t, sorcerer, igron, vizier, and many other meshes with robes/dresses. What makes this one different (I'm using Visas by zeromaster for the dress, and male_teen_tall) is its tapered and skinny. I dont want the feet to be far apart in a wide super-hero stance. This scope has successfully done that, kept the profile fairly narrow, but animations still have the legs showing . The final result should look like a 1 piece , body hugging changshan worn by imperial court eunuchs during the qing dynasty.

For whats its worth, I'm making a team of chinese communist super-functionaries. The style is golden age, with a lot of traditional feel. So I need TONS of different flowing, moving robes, skirts, baggy pants, blousy sleeves and the like. I think I have most all meshes that have been released, theres just not a lot that have these kind parts, western super heroes are kinda into tights. Since its a team of 60+ members, I'll be skoping a lot and asking a lot of questions.

I'm trying to use Johnny Patches tip here: http://freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=49313.msg672604#msg672604

But im not sure how I find triangles in the thighs...they're not "lighting up" or anything.

Johnny Patches tip worked BEAUTIFULLY, I got my results.

Of course I went too fast and now have an enourmous triangular hole in his foot, so i'll have to redo it more carefully.

If anyone has a less time consuming tip (took 30 minutes), I'm all ears.
