In  :ffvstr: ....Using FFX has anyone gotten the Driver attribute and Car attribute to work? I have the Batmobile and the car attribute seems to work (I think) but when I add a driver attribute to Batman, then play the Danger Room,I get a error..

spydermann93

I've never toyed with that attribute myself, but Benton has it working in his DCUG mod.

Try checking it out and seeing what you have to do to get the attribute to work.

Ok I installed the HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGEEEEEEE (Stern fans will get that one lol)  Mod,and dammit I am  impressed and I havent even tried the campaign yet,not to mention I "marked out" for the Justice League and Batman The Animated Series themes.BUT enough gushing, the driver and car attributes still dont work for me,even with this mod on.Any more ideas?

Also, how can I get all these characters for the danger room to use at my will? Can I download them all from Benton's site?

BentonGrey

Howdy Kobelee, thanks.  That little project of mine was a long time in the making.  It's been a long time since I messed around with the driver attribute, but a quick look at my files and the manual tell me you have to edit the ffxcustom2.py file directly.  That means you go into your mod folder, open missions/scripts/ffxcustom2.py with winpython (if you don't have it, you can download it for free).  Then you go down to the driver section and add an entry for your characters.  Mine look like this:

["batman","batmobile_veh","batwing_veh","","away"],
["robin","robin_cycle","","","away"],

And this reminds me I need to add in Blue Beetle's Bug.

Check out the FFX manual for more extensive instructions and explanations.
http://ffx.freedomforceforever.com/manual.htm

As for the characters, they should all be available in the Danger Room already.  They are all built-in to the mod, so they should be available under heroes and villains options in the RR menus.

Nice to finally meet The Man Himself :) But I have several problems with this mod..

1)I'll get back to you on that driver thing and let ya know

2)I started a campaign, and it loaded then the screen went completely grey.I was able to exit the campaign like normal

3)No Characters other than mine and the default choices from FFVT3R in the rumble room.

BentonGrey

Nice to meet you too, Kobelee. :)

That sounds like you've had some type of troubles with the install.  You should see zillions of characters in the RR and I THINK it ships with the JLA campaign as the default.  So, did you download all the pieces of the zip?  Did you combine them all with 7-Zip?

I used file joiner (fjoiner) i had no problems with the combine..no errors.

BentonGrey

Take a look at your DCUG directory.  Does it include all of the normal .Dat files, like Characters, Templates, etc?  Open up DCUG/Art/Custom_characters.  Check the properties of the folder.  It should be somewhere around 1.4 gigs in size.  Check your missions folder, it should be around 160 megs.  It seems like you're missing files, but if the combining process worked, I'm not sure what the issue is.

I didn't join the files. I just extracted the first file, and all of the others extracted with it.

Which program are you using?

Spyder-Didnt know there was a option to do the combine or not.lol.Like I said I used file joiner (fjoiner) to combine the files..I think it was the install..

Benton-I took all the people from Custom Characters DCUG folder and moved to my custom characters folder and wow..now I see what I was missing.Lots of new faces and things.Drooling at the thought of creating all these people lol but before that..Hey if I showed you a screenshot of my various folders, could you tell where the mistake(s) was/were? And yes my mission folder was only like 110 MB.

If you use 7-zip, for certain files (usually when they end with something like .00x; x being a number) all of the archives would extract automatically; no need for any combining or any other tools.

Also, an important thing to note: Benton set up all of his mesh folders to read keyframes from another location. To get them to work, you'll have to look at the keyframes.txt in every mesh folder and do either of these two things:

1) find the location of the keyframes of appropriate naming and copy them over to the mesh folder (rename to "keyframes.kf")

or

2) copy the entire folder of keyframes and paste them in your library/characters directory and change the "DCUG" in the keyframes' path to whatever the name of your mod folder is.

BentonGrey

Hmm, so when running the DCUG shortcut from inside the DCUG folder, you're getting the problems you described earlier, but there are obviously a lot of the meshes and skins present if you were able to copy them over to your custom folder.

The lower size of your missions folder seems to indicate missing files.  We could search through your mod folder directory by directory, but that would take a long time.  I'd advise downloading 7-Zip and combining the zip pieces, as obviously somethings didn't get extracted properly.

Ahh, thanks for the reminder there Spyder, that's a good point, although, I THINK the meshes will still find their keys, as long as that keyframe folder stays where it should.

I'm afraid that the meshes can no longer find the keyframes if you don't copy them over.  I tested it and it doesn't seem to work  :(

It would seem that the best method of getting the mesh to use the keyframes is just to copy the keyframes over manually and rename them.

kobelee

What if I posted screenshots of my folders..could you tell from that?

BentonGrey

Well, that seems unnecessary, as you're obviously missing files somehow, but to confirm, check your missions folder.  You should have: Aquaman 01-02, JLA 01-08, JSA 01-06, Atom 01-04, Hawkman 01-05, Batman 01-08, and Question 01-02, as well as a few others.  Are all of those there?

Well if you still have trouble why dont you do a clean install? Assuming you have the rar files just extract the fisrt one and after a couple of minutes a DCUG folder while appear. Just move the folder in your   :ffvstr: directory( not in the data section just the main directory) get into the mod folder and douvle click the icon. If it still doesnt work maybe you havent downloaded all the files. Dont try to join the files just extract the first one.

kobelee

:banghead: I downloaded all the files and then combined them, then I deleted the parts, because of the space they took up.As a constant gamer and finder of new games to entertain me lol,I dont have much room on my PC for large file parts.I DO however, still have the combined files in their whole form.I'm not good (or I just don't "get it") when it comes to complicated file editing, etc. I know someone will say it's easy or it's not that hard to do but..
So I'll try the clean install, and if that doesn't work I may just give up.I still have all of the characters from DCUG that I manually moved to my custom folder (just to see if they were there) and I can just create tons and tons of characters to fight with and against. Some of the DCUG maps work and same with the new powers & effects. The new attributes I need to try though.

Jimaras8

For that reason i suggest an external HDD. Mine helpes move over 20 games from my pc hard drive.

kobelee

Way ahead of ya bro..but it's full lol.149 GB just isn't enough, gonna have to go terrabyte.I do love my gaming..

With the death of my last External HDD, I got a 1.5TB USB/HDD.

Best choice I've made in a while

kobelee

Ok,now that I've done the clean install,(I started from scratch on everything) things are working a lot better. And yes, the  driver and car attributes work. Batman happily drove the Batmobile last night lol. :D

Now my problem is the voices.A lot of the new ones dont work, and I've noticed that some of the original default voices are missing, like Liberty Lad,who I used for Spider-Man's voice. There is only the "Liberty Lad?" voice and the normal "Liberty Lad" voice isnt even listed.Thoughts?

(crosses fingers) Please don't be a complicated fix.Please don't be a complicated fix.Please don't be a complicated fix.Please don't be a complicated fix.

lol.

Jimaras8

Dont cross your fingers too much. My little experience with the game has showed me when you ask for something simple er..usually it turns out not to be simple. The voices dont work in DCUG only or in your vanilla game too? If some of them dont work neither the game nor the mod you have messed the lang folder located in your data folder. Did you merge any dat files with FFedit?

kobelee

Lol so true Jim.

Well when I went back to the original game, the original  :ffvstr: were all there so I gave Spidey the Liberty Lad voice, then went back to the DCUG mod his voice came up as the one and only Jimmy Olsen lol.But it worked. BUT some of the new voices from the DCUD mod are not there though when you choose them. How do I fix that?

And how do you merge dat files with FFEdit?

BTW,A big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me and will help me with my various  :ffvstr: problems in this long ongoing topic. It all started with a car not working lol...You guys are great! Thanks for your patience and help!

Jimaras8

You mean for example you see batman voice in the info menu but when you select it so sound comes out. Did i get it right? I had that problem with certain voices and when i came back in the game after a while they were working!!!! Strange stuff. Anyway find a character when the problematic voice and test him in game. Make sure you test him in a rumble room session with an enemy as many sounds come out when you hero detects threat. If it still doesnt work i dont have many ideas left. Are you completely sure you didnt mess with the land folder in both the DCUG and  :ffvstr:? I mean copy files from one folder to another as this causes some disambiguity.

BentonGrey

Howdy Kobelee, I'm really glad to hear that you got the mod working, and that Batman got to take a spin in his car. :)

As for the sound issue, I'm not entirely sure from your description what the trouble is, so please do provide a bit more detail, and perhaps we can figure it out.

1)Yes no sound comes out when I select a DCUG voice...didnt mess with the land folder.Like I said I don't edit or even know how to edit.Everything I did was pretty much self install or install to a certain place..the simple stuff. No voices with the DCUG chracters and no voices when you create a character except the default ones.

2)Tried to run FFEdit and I got this error "The procedure entry point_AIL_set_filter_stream_preference@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll" any ideas?

BentonGrey

Hmm...did I actually release the DCUG WITH voice packs?  I think I set it up to be compatible with all of mine, but to keep size down I didn't include the sounds themselves.  Haha, I'm not sure at this point, though.  It's been years.  When I update it I'll make sure to address that.
