I haven't been here since around 2007 and my stint was VERY brief. But I have this near obsessive love of this game. I have still yet to find any game (even now) that I like that features superheroes.

I know there are bigger and better 'Sandbox' games out there. But there is something appealing to the look of this game (Especially the original)

I have been working with a pretty big list of characters trying to categorize them all and I am presently plotting a DC mod of my own for ffvtTR.

Just out of curiosity... Why is the new game so much brighter than the old one? It is almost distracting and why is the color scheme the way it is... no offense to anyone. But I find the colors of the environment to be extremely guady. I much preferred the original games look. Especially the buildings and street stuff.

Also... is there a way to emulate a car chase? I think it could be done in the cut scenes... but can it be done with the other autos on the game?

Did anyone ever find a way to fix the corner thing from the original FF game brought to FFvtTR... and brighten it just a touch? I think someone might have told me at one point but I forget now.

Anyhow... Just thought I would hop in here, say a 'Hey!" and drop some possible plans and questions.

Laters!

Welcome back, Guardian!

Depending on what you want exactly, it should be doable. After all, one of the few new features of FFvsTTR is controllable vehicles. I suggest you check the Nazi camp mission where you can capture a tank.

Yeah, I was never a big fan of the change in art direction in the second game.
It seemed like the game shifted from a primary colour palette (red, yellow, blue) to a secondary colour palette (orange, green, purple), with cities being a predominant ornage and grey tones. Euchh! :)
Maybe this was an attempt to look more like a 40's comic than a 60's comic, and I guess it would have suited the WW II levels better if thats the case. But then again, I always questioned the wisdom of shifting the emphasis to further back in time in the first place. Superheroes and WWII are two niches with small-ish overlap.

I don't think you could get a satisfying car chase out of Freedom Force. The maps are generally too small and there's no way to give a vehicle (or character) momentum, which is where the fun of a car chase comes from.

What's the corner thing from the original FF?

Hey again!

Car Chase: Like if you wanted batman in the bat-mobile (Even one mocked from the various vehicles available) chasing someone in another car. I just thought it was an interesting concept. Again I know I could pull it off in a cut scene. It would just be cool to be able to amp up the speed of them cornering and then possibly a crash in one of the various parks.

Yeah the gaudy second color palette is exactly what I am referring to. I despise full day mode in the game (TOO bright!). Though the night and near-night presentations are rather cool... especially the neon signs.

In the versions that I have, The corners of all the streets are kind of a dirt brown instead of the typical sidewalk color from the game. It isn't a huge deal. I am simply glad to have the original maps to play with, as I personally feel those maps (and the ones added by others) are superior to most in the 2nd game.

Oh and I am not exactly sure who is responsible for the 'Patriot City' freeroam game (I don't have my notes handy)... but I am sending out a HUGE thanks to them. I enjoyed that as much as the both the full games and I have often thought about adding to it... but I am still learning to set the game up on my own and I would rather do something with DC's 'Original Earth-2'.

Does anyone have the keyframes for a Son of Satan/blue devil mesh I have? It is the one that has Damien Hellstorm's hair on it as well. I don't absolutely need it... I have keyframes that work with it... but he doesn't use his trident well in it.

I am also looking to make a female diver. Which mesh of mine do I need to make that happen. Is it one of Tommyboy's? Sorry it is hard for me to see beneath the Christmas tree clutter when I use my editor to try to ferret out things from it (I am looking to make Judy from the Sea Devils and Alanna - Adam Strange's wife using it).

If anyone wants a decent challenge. I would love to see someone take the civilian female and remove her hat... maybe give her a few different hairtypes. I am not sure how to do such things yet... I am sure I could use the Mesh editor... simply save another one and find a way to drop the hat down to her head level.... but it would be fun to see some different hairstyles.

Rope animations. I am a HUGE fan of Wonder Woman and it seems the animations for the older models that have a more 'Original WW' look are pretty limited.

Also... is the there a female stretching character/keyframes (Like for Madame Rouge, foe of the Doom Patrol and the New Teen Titans)? I am thinking of the kind that are like the very smooth flex stretching out ones for plastic man/mr fantastic and my all time favorite Ralph Digby/Elongated Man.

---------FF----------
The time themed game I could have done without. We already had that in the first one... I didn't mind the time travel so much... As I did the similar ending as the previous one. Besides... it was a little TOO dark phoenix.
Though I do LOVE WWII adventures and DC or Marvel characters in them.

Actually... Now that I think about it. I think that makes the Patriot City Freeroam game superior to the second game (ffvttr). It was a more straightforward Super hero adventure.
Especially fun was the Man of War and Sea Urchin portion (It made me appreciate Sea Urchin's usefulness in ways I was unwilling to before). The haunted house and run in the dark was a lot of fun. Even though I have never been a huge vampire or vampire-isk fan. I did enjoy that beyond words, from the beginning to the end the Man of War sequence was possibly the best fun I had in the game since Liberty Lad went all awol in the original game to prove himself (a nice freeroam layout in that one).

Anyhow... thanks for responding guys. by the way DrMike... been a huge HUGE fan of yours for years. Thank for all your hard work and all that you have given to this game.

Amazo Version 2.2

I know that blue devil is on someone's list to skope, I think he just needs someone to skin it when its finished

as for the female civilian, I think there are keyframes for either female basic or female longhair, that would add some versatility to that type of character

as for a female scubadiver, I think a simple body swap with the male scubadiver could be done, but that would need a skin as well
For anyone, and everyone, who has ever done anything to improve the FF/FFvs3R gaming experience, I want to say thank you. Life is so short, and you have all brought me so much joy. I hope that one day, I am somehow able to return the kindness and generosity that all of you have shown.

Hey! I'm not finished with that yet! I was doing it to pair with my also not finished Primus skin/hex.

There are a couple of Alanna skins/meshes out there. One at Alex's Freedom Fortress I'm pretty sure.

I had planned on skoping a Blue Devil, it's on my list, but I'd be willing to move it up if you're interested. I traditionally skope for  :ffvstr:, but if you need it for  :ff:, I could do that too. The only thing is, like Amazo said, I would just need a skinner.

A female skindiver. My intent was to just paste Crymsin on my Carter Primus hex, but the whole high-heeled swimfins thing kinda stopped me cold.

An Allana with the smaller rockets would be nice...

Have you looked at Unkoman's "Rocket Man" Mesh? Located here: http://heroforce.freedomforceforever.com/unkoman.html

You could plop Lord E's Crymson onto that.

And I apologize for the threadjack G7.

The Blue Devil/Son of Satan isn't a priority for me. I was just looking to complete the original mesh I have.

I can skin. I am not as good as some of the rest (like C6 and the amazing work that sings out from 'Heroforce'). But I think I do a decent enough job. I just recently did a Black Vulcan (Super Friends) that I am very happy with and I did Wonder Woman (1940s) and the HUGE host of amazons (armored and not) to do a Paradise Island sequence.

Yeah I am only making games for the second FF (FFvtTR)... but I still love a lot of the original stuff (and hard work) by others from the original game.

Female Civilians: I just would like a decent skirt that moves with more grace and less crosses underbody parts outward or stretches too badly. Not a huge deal... More me being anal than anything else. With the ORIGINAL Female Civilian... Her skirt hugs her nicely and seems to flow VERY well with her as she simply walks or runs. Some of the dresses on some of the women look like bells (Don't get me wrong... I could do no better 'obviously') but I do know visually what I like.

Yeah I have the Alanna 'Skin' and the Judy (Sea Devils) one as well (I have I believe virtually every skin available for every hero created for the game). I just don't have the airtank... BUT... I think I might have spotted something on one of the Tommyboy Meshes and the flippers are there too!

Does anyone know if there is a way to blur, jag or cause line streamers to form around the edges of the screen to give the impression of having a memory flashback? I know that is probably the most ridiculous question to ask.

Is there also a way to look at a landscape, Such as the Island one in a cutscene without having to highlight a character? Use a flying invisible man possibly?

Just looking for ways to make the cutscene's rather cinematic in some ways... I realize I am limited to in the angles I can have... I haven't yet figured out the look upwards perspective I have read about somewhere on the net that was available for the game.

Don't mean to bog you all up with my questions... but at this junction point. I can't think of a better place to ask.

Another question... Is the community still pretty strong. I still see a lot of stuff here on the net for it.

ANYHOW... enough BLAH BLAH BLAH from me. Thinks for you input guys... I should have done this years ago.

that son of satan mesh, if its the one that I am thinking of was done by fusion, it may be in one of his yahoo groups, i don't know for sure, but the blue devil that was hexed from it should be in bentongrey's dcug mod, possibly with the keyframes available with it.

Guardian7

Sure... I can do that.

Is there anything special I should know about showing them? Should it be the original format or a screencaptured jpg version?

I also did what I think is the best Marvel 'Blue Diamond' to appear anywhere yet (Big fan of WWII heroes).

So I will bring my external drive the next time I am here and show all there, B Vulcan, WWE2 and Blue Diamond.

I also did a decent hawkgirl from All Star Squadron with the yellow Hawkman mask and the head-wings... Oh and I guess there is also Golden Eagle (Teen Titans and sub-protege of Hawkman).

What I am working on right now is a version of Batman/Deadman combination. I kind of wanted it to have a Deadman look with a serrated bat-collar (bat-ears as well). I tried using the mesh from the Black Panther one I have and melding a very beautiful Batman1940s onto it and the collar looks good.... until  you hit certain angles and then the ghost of the missing collar portion flashes white. Does that show in the game as well? Frankly I can't remember.

I also want to find a way to ghost Bat-Deadman out. Make him mildly translucent. I am also going to have to figure out how they had Jericho possess someone from the Teen Titan's mod and hope I can get it to work in FFvtTR (If I am remembering correctly what he did in that game).

Blue Devil... I'll look and see if that BD KF will work with the Son of Satan one. Hopefully it will animate the cape nicely and not have the fork cross into his head with too many of the melee or ranged attacks.

Okay... Out of here.

I would say a screencaptured version, either from in the game, or from the charactertool
