Hey guys, I've been going through some old back-up disks that I was given years ago, checking out some old skins, and I've been finding that there are quite a few that are either partially or fully blank, like it's been alpha's out.

Does anyone know if this is a common occurrence for older skins, or just skins in general?

Does anyone know what causes this?

Is there any way to fix this, or is the skin just gone?

It's kind of frustrating seeing a zip file for a character that I would really like to check out, just to find this. Ugh...  :banghead:

Thank you.

The reason why it's not showing up well in Paint.NET is because the files are 32-bit.  I use photoshop to convert them to 24-bit and they work just fine after that.

If you don't have photoshop, GIMP might be able to do the same thing, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thank you Spyder, I'll give that a try. I don't think I have GIMP installed anymore though, I might have an old version of Paint Shop Pro though, I'll have to check and see if I still have it.

Remember, though,  that in order to maintain the Alpha Channel, I believe they need to be 32 bit. If I am wrong, someone with more knowledge of graphics please correct me.

Nope, you're 100% correct, Hoss.  Alpha channels are supported only by 32bit and above, anything lower and they don't work.
Avatar picture originally a Brom painting entitled Marionette.
