Hey, guys.
Got a weird one here. So, I recently downloaded and unloaded Benton Grey's DCUG mod. However, while I admire the quality of the extensive mod, I was just looking for more characters to use for my own purposes. Among these include: Batgirl, Black Canary, Braniac, Bruce Wayne, Question, Captain Atom, Catwoman, Clayface, Commissioner Gordon, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Enchantress, Green Arrow, Loki, Mongul, Riddler. I list these character specifically because of a very strange problem.

It's confusing as it is aesthetically unpleasing. Problem is, I have no idea what causes it. For pretty much all of the above listed characters, I got their files (skins and .nif) from the DCUG>Art>custom_characters directory where they were all stored. From there, I got their keyframes from the DCUG>Art>library>characters>!keyframes>(male/female) directory. I renamed all of the keyframes to "keyframes.kf" and deleted the "keyframes.txt" in each character's folder. Then, I narrowed each character down to the skin I preferred to save hard drive space. I figured this would work out, but when I went into the game to check them, I got the second screenshot above. I suspect that I'll need the help of Mr. Benton Grey, so, if you're out there, sir, I appreciate any and all help. However, if anyone else has answers, I appreciate them just as much.

Thanks, guys.

And, as a side note, I ran the mesh into Nifskope and made sure the skin parts were assigned to the mesh, but I still got these results.

Just went back into the DCUG files and found that there are certain parts of the whole skin that were in the standard skin (the one I didn't use), which weren't in the "batgirl blue" skin (the one I did use). Gonna see if copying those over and assigning them to the "batgirl blue" (now standard) skin helps.

Problem solved. Gonna have to go back through the other skins and see if this is the recurring problem.

Generally, the issues you are showing are caused by missing art files or that the skins contain tga files instead of dds files. Usually, the white blotchy effect you show in game means the latter. Here are two steps to check to troubleshoot:

1. Being that the entire mesh is pink in CTool, I'm going to guess that the skins are missing the lightmap art file. For your example, if the Batgirl mesh uses female_basic art files, then look for a female_basic_lighmap.tga file in the folder. If it's not there, then copy one over from another mesh. If you don't have another female_basic_lightmap file around then just copy a male_basic_lightmap file over and rename it.

You should also check to make sure that the skin contains the necessary refl and glow files. Once in a while, I'll grab a skin that might have all of the refl files for the mesh pieces (ie; male_basic_refl, extras_refl, etc.), but is missing the glow files (male_basic_glow, extras_glow).

2. If all of the art files are present, then you will probably have to go about saving the tga files as dds files. The dds art file format is the default format for  :ffvstr: and every once in a while, it just doesn't like the tga files associated with a mesh/skin.

Edit: I see you posted while I was posting. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestions, hoss. You pretty much wrote out everything I was doing, 'cept for the stuff about .dds files. Just about all of the skins I use are .tga files, but that's only 'cause I can Photoshop .tga files, and that's the format the character skins I download are usually in.

Problem's pretty much solved, I just have to pore back over the extensive amount of files and find the original sources of the skins to I can put the lightmap, glow, and reflect files back with the other parts of the skins. I'm putting a puzzle together, I was just missing a few pieces for a while there.

While I don't remember where I got it, you can get a Photoshop filter that will let you open and save .dds files.

Each mesh seems different. There are some that every skin must be in .dds format, others that will take some with .dds, some with .tga. I wish I'd made notes...
