Dreaded Porcupine

I have everything in the game and I can't remember how to work the M25 Watch mode. I created all new M25 AI files for every character and ran FFXedit2. I'm trying to try them out in watch mode but all the characters are standing there doing nothing. The first page has four slots for characters. The next page has more. I remember putting the line between the characters to separate them into opposing teams. I don't remember what else. Any help will be appreciated.

Whenever I use Watch Mode, here's what I do:

1. Set the "-----------" character as the only character in your party.
2. Select "----BUDDIES----" and place it in the first slot of the enemy list.
3. Choose anybody that you wish to be on "your" team and place them under the "----BUDDIES----" character.
4. Place the "-----------" character to signify a new team.
5. Place anybody that you wish to be on that team under the line.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 if you wish for more teams.
7. Start the scenario and watch the AI beat the snot out of each other!

Dreaded Porcupine

That's what I have been doing. In the hero section I put ---------. Then in the enemy section I do ---buddies--- and then pick four characters then ------- and another four characters for a four on four. Only the Abomination shows up in the airfield map and no other characters. And he just stands there. I ran ffxedit2 and then created AI for each character. Then ran it again.

Dreaded Porcupine

OK I just battled Alchemiss against the Alien Warrior and it worked. Just my custom characters won't work. What the hell? They all have hero files. I ran the M25 generator and gave them AI. I don't get it.

Dreaded Porcupine

I just deleted all my AI and started over. I ran FFXedit2 then ran M25 generator. Still doesn't work. If I use two campaign characters they battle each other independently. If I use two custom characters only the first one appears in the game and the second one doesn't. If I use a campaign hero first and a custom character second they both show up but just stand there. If I use a custom character first and a campaign character second only the custom character shows up. It seems the problem is only happening with the custom characters. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

What tool do you use to get your hero files into the actual game, ie Built-in?  It sounds like there's an issue in the character files themselves, rather than FFX.

Mr. Brdo's

Sorry, I should have been more clear on that.

How do you convert your custom hero files into built-in hero files, or do you do that at all?  By FFXEdit2, do you mean the FFXControl Centre, i.e. the tool where you customize how a hero's attributes behave, or FFEdit, i.e. the tool that modifies built-in heroes and the like?

Sounds like you're trying to do the latter, to me.

I used all USAgent hero files. I used Mr. Brdo's tool to choose skin, voice and then named the same as the hero file name after I matched it to the mesh. Then I just put them in the hero file folder. I ran FFXControl Centre and then created AI using M25 generator. Is there something else I should have done. Any advice? The academy awards are on and I'm on call. I'm bored shitless and have to hole up in the basement while my wife watches the Oscars and just do watch mode all night tweaking the hero files. Now I'm SOL if I don't get this to work.

Dreaded Porcupine

I just tried Superhero TV using two custom teams of two like watch mode. They are working but the two teams are not battling each other but imaginary foes. They are using ranged attacks against nothing.

To your first post:

It sounds like to me that there is an error in initializing your custom characters.  Do you create your characters in MrBrdo's Hero Tool, then modify them in-game, in the Character Tool, afterward?  Or do you modify the hero in MrBrdo's tool and then immediately run them through the M25AI generator?  Some of the hero files might be missing FX that you're trying to use or, in the case of Taskmaster's Hero Files, they might have inappropriate power modifiers, e.g. Trace Energy rather than Low, Medium, High, or None.

Also, whenever you run the Rumble Room in Battle Mode, do you see any messages pop up in the top left corner?

To your second post:

I think that you're using the "-----------" character in that mode.  I don't believe that is necessary, but I've never used Superhero TV, so I'm not too sure.

Never used character tool. I just stuck to USAgents hero files using Mr. Brdo's tool and than ran them through the generator. Let me check and see if some of the hero files are trying to use Fx that I don't have installed. Damn now I have to go through every character. This is becoming a pain.

I'd just convert the hero files that you feel like playing around with, first; the rest later on as you feel like it.

Once you sort out all of the missing FX, everything should work. :)

Dreaded Porcupine

I just went through about 25 characters looking at all of the ranged Fx and it appears that they all correlate with the hero files. So how do I fix the error in the initialization? I never had this problem in the past. If I uninstall and reinstall FFX 3.3 with I have to install my Fx all over again?

I'm not sure what you mean by convert but I will take out every hero file but two that I know have everything right and will try them.

Dreaded Porcupine

That didn't work. I took every hero file out of the folder except for two with simple melee fx and still the same problem. Only one character shows up in watch mode and just stands there. The second character nowhere to be found and I searched the entire map. The in game characters work fine. The customs don't. I've been at this all day and have got nowhere fast. I give up. If you have any ideas please let me know.

spydermann93

Could you send me the two hero files that you are trying to get to work?

If it's your characters, I'd like to take a look and see what the issue is.  Once I figure that out, I'll send them back to you, and if they still don't work, then it is definitely your FFX installation (most likely just the script files, though).

Dreaded Porcupine

PM me your email and I'll send them to you.

Well, I tested the files that you sent and they work perfectly well on my computer, so it is an issue with your FFX installation, I'm afraid.

I will send you some files via e-mail that will hopefully fix your issue. :)

bungs2001

Hi spydermann could you possible help me please i have had exactly the same issue. started from scratch as my old laptop died and now after downloading everything i cant use m25 watch mode. my e-mail is bungs2001@hotmail.com

spydermann93

Ok, to be honest, I don't exactly remember what was happening here too well.

From what I'm understanding, you're trying to use your own characters in the m25 Watch Mode, but nothing really happens.

Do the built-in characters like Minuteman and Man-Bot work?  Or are no characters working?

bungs2001

Hi yeah built in characters work fine. it just some ive created (in game) i have tried creating them through ez hero but no luck still. Ive also run them through the control center i deleted all my hero files and just have a lonely thor. but again he doesnt want to do anything.  Thanks for the response

spydermann93

Would you mind sending me your hero file? My e-mail is holy_pilgrim90@yahoo.com

I'll check if it works for me, and if it does, then we know the issue is something wrong with your installation.

bungs2001

spydermann93

Ok, so after looking at your hero file, I saw that Thor has two attacks called "Melee".  Doing that messes with the AI file as the AI doesn't know which of the two attacks to perform, so it just stood there.

I modified the hero file so that one of the "melee" powers is called "melee 2".  Once I did that, he worked perfectly well in Watch Mode.

I sent you the edited files via e-mail.  Try them and see if you still have trouble. :)

bungs2001

Good Morning

Sorry but that hasnt worked. I try unistalling everything and start from scratch.

Thanks

bungs2001

that hasnt worked either the opposite team doesn't show up either

spydermann93

So you completely reinstalled FFX3 and it still doesn't work?

What other characters are you using besides Thor?  Make sure that their AI files don't have any errors in them, or else they won't work at all.

That's really weird.  All I can say is post the log file and hopefully somebody more experienced with FFX can take a look at it.
