Trouble with FFXedit on Mac

So I've been using Wineskin to play  :ffvstr: on my Mac, works fine, I've downloaded EZFX and FFX 3.3 into it, they show up fine. But now, of course, I have to "brand" my characters so they can actually use the FFX attributes and powers using the FFX Control Center. I assume to access that I have to open up the ffxedit2.exe in my  :ffvstr: folder.

When I try doing that with Wineskin, I get this error:
err:module:import_dll Library MFC42.DLL (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\GOG.com\\FFvTTR\\ffxedit2.exe") not found

So it can't find some sort of .dll file for it to work. I don't know if this is because of it being a GOG version of the game and something is not where it should be for ffxedit or if it's some problem with Wineskin or what.

Anybody with experience running this stuff on Mac with any advice?

Thanks!

Just found how to make it work, using FF1:

Right-click the app in the Finder to display the package content instead of running it. Open Wineskin.app and select Advanced mode. Under Utilities, select Winetricks. In the package list, select mfc42 and click Run. This will connect to Microsoft.com and install the DLL. Afterwards, return to Wineskin's Advanced view and select Task Manager. Click New task and point to FFxEdit.exe.

I'll have to try this out when I get home! Thank you.

Thanks, Epimethee! It totally works!

I just have one question when it concerns "branding" a character to FFX using the control console. After I have done so, if I am getting more CP with that character through the campaign and I want to add say a new FFX attribute like Super TK; will that new FFX attribute work with the character or do I have to save the game, go out of the game, and then with the control console "re-brand" that character so it will be able to use the new FFX attribute?

Thanks again.

My pleasure!

The branding is done to allow FFX to recognize the character template. Adding attributes or powers won't cause problems.

Great to know, thanks!

I should mention something weird with FFXedit though. I've been playing the "Son of Customforce" mod with  :ffvstr: and whenever I brand a hero in the game with FFXedit, it changes the material of the hero to flesh. So if I've got someone with stone skin, after I brand him with FFXedit he's got flesh skin. Kind of annoying as he still has stone skin in the characters screen outside of the campaign, but in the campaign, he always gets changed to flesh skin. It's a weird little bug that I can't figure out how to change.

Hmm... I thought there was a patch in FFX for that, by Stumpy IIRC.

Can you point me to a link for that? Have you had that problem yourself?

Sorry, the patch by Stumpy I was referring to pertains to NPC mass ignoring the material multiplier, not what you're experiencing. And no, I don't remember having this issue.

Huh, well I guess I'll just have to live with it.
