I've been starting to have a problem with a certain meshes in  :ffvstr: not working properly, or rather, not working at all. It started when I tried to run Tommyboy's Elastigirl mesh in the game, but clicking on the mesh caused the game to crash. I then tried loading it up in the Character Tool; the same thing happened. I then tried loading up Tommyboy's GA Flash, Renegade's GA Starman, and KennX's Blue Beetle; all of those meshes, or NIF's, crashed the Character Tool when selected, and would likely crash the game as well. I've tried using the NIF converter, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Also, this doesn't happen with all meshes; some meshes work just fine. If anyone can help me figure this problem out, I'd be grateful, because I really don't know what to do here.

Starman

hmm, that really does sound like a nif conversion problem

Download EZNifConvert tool, it's pretty easy to use. Use the first bar to place the mesh's nif file and the second for the kfs. Press Convert, wait for the cmd to do it's work and you are set!

Be sure that you have the latest version of Microsoft .NET Framework.

The tool won't work, otherwise.

One tell-tale sign that the tool is actually converting your meshes (other than the fact that they'll work in-game) is that there will be a "character.bak" in the character's mesh folder.  The tool should make a back-up of any mesh that you're trying to convert.  If there isn't one of those files, then the tool is not working.

Could you give me the download link? I've been trying to find it myself, but with little luck.

Here you go: http://www.alexff.com/goodies.php

It's called "EZ Nif Converter 2.0".  It's the third download, on the left, from the top.

I got the 'EZ Nif Converter', and finally got it to work. As it turns out, getting the latest version of Microsoft NET Framework doesn't do it. (FYI, the latest version is 4.5.) What you need is 1.1; otherwise, the program won't even install. After that, it still took a while to get everything working right, but by now, it's finally working; all the meshes that I couldn't get to work before are working just fine now. :)

Ah, that is very good to know.

I'm glad the tool is working for you, now!
